Ric comments on Raw ratings
I have comments on his comments.
True, the ratings were down the prior couple of weeks, but that was due in part to the fact that 1 week they were on a different channel and the next week they were battling against an FSU-Miami college football game which is a bigtime matchup and it was a holiday.
The fact that MNF drew less numbers on ESPN than on ABC really isn't a factor because: A certain percentage (although I confess to not knowing how large) didn't tune to ESPN because they couldn't either do to not having a provider that carries the channel (as unlikely as it seems, it happens) and or not having cable or a dish to tune even if they won't. The latter wouldn't have had the ability to watch Raw either so their not important to the discussion.
Even drawing a smaller audience, football did them no favors. It also didn't help that the West Coast feed of Raw was going head-to-head with a football game which it never does, although the fact it was a blowout probably made some West Coast viewers jump back to Raw.
Actually, I think that Football probably would hurt UFC/TNA more than the WWE due to the fact that UFC draws a stronger sports audience than the WWE does. People do watch WWE because of its soap-opera like qualities. So I think Dolphins/Steelers did more damage to the Thursday competition than Redskins/Vikings and Raiders/Chargers did to Raw.
I personally think that all things considered a 3.6 rating is a pretty good showing, its the same as they got on a holiday with a top-level college game as competition, so at least the ratings didn't get lower.
