ACE Preview: TNA Genesis 2006
First of all, thanks to every man woman and child in the world. I got letters from all of you and again apologize for Sheik. He is not allowed back today after having offended everyone, even I wrote a letter. Actually, even Sheik wrote one but I won't repeat it here.
Anyway, tonight is TNA Genesis and CARE minus Ric is here to break it down.
Art: This is one TNA PPV that I am interested in, I'm thinking of ordering it tonight.
Casey: TNA is putting on what is perhaps its most important Pay Per View event ever. Kurt Angle Vs. Samoa Joe is something quite a few people are wanting to see. How will they handle it? Who will win? What is the sound of 1-hand clapping? We will try to answer some of these questions in the ACE preview of TNA Genesis.
Euan: So here we are, TNA Genesis and the match where we might see Kurt Angle literally fall into pieces in the ring. Anyway on with the predictions, thanks
to Casey for emailing me the match listings as i hadn't been bothered to look yet. I'm much more excited for UFC 65 which i will see tonight in the UK.
Voodoo Kin Mafia Vs. The Movement (Kazarian, Matt Bentley & Johnny Devine)
Art: the wacky VKM (wonder what that stands for?) win this match
Winner: Voodoo Kin Mafia
Casey: Oh Lord help me, seriously. I’d almost rather sit through another Tim Sylvia fight where he realizes he’s got the decision and phones in the rest. I hate the VKM storyline, actually the concept is fine with me but it’s the fact that its Kip and B.G. waging the war on WWE that sucks six kinds of well suck. Also you have the new movement (of bowels) and it would be lame for either group to job in their first match. I guess it’s a good thing they’re facing each other then. Well, as this is Russo and his booking is not completely unpredictable, I’m going to tell you that VKM will win because they are former WWE guys. I’m also going to help out Art by telling him what VKM stands for since he can’t figure it out.
Winner: Vaginal Kunt Mucus
Euan: Why did TNA think that by putting the James Gang in new clothes and repackaging them we would be fooled into liking them? Oh wait, i remember now...VINCE
RUSSO! However, i think they will get their first win as the VKM so whoopie!
Winner: VKM
Robert Roode issues an open challenge
Art: Who gives a shit...?
Winner: (Editor’s note, I’m not sure who Art thinks will win)
Casey: Let me say that I love Art’s answer. Let me also say that I don’t know who Roode’s opponent will end up being. Rhino is the biggest name not on the card but we’ve been there and done that. It could be Eric Young or Petey Williams to make Team Canada explode but neither makes me interested. Actually, nobody in this spot would interest me.
Winner: Robert “not Rick” Roode
Euan: That's rather personal isn't it....oh he wants a partner to WRESTLE him not HUMBLE him. Sorry Sheiky. "You are punk, you are fag little gay, vorse than
Hulk Hogan." Oh well, i will predict the mystery opponent will lose this match to Mr. Roode.
Winner: Robert Roode
The Naturals Vs. Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal
Art: I have a bad feeling that The Naturals go over
Winner: The Naturals
Casey: The Naturals have actually drawn heel heat the past couple of weeks, I’m as surprised as anyone. It would be a mistake to have them lose to a team that has done nothing in Dutt and Lethal but I can see Russo saying: “Team 3D will cost them the match, that way they can lose without losing their heat.” On the surface it seems smart but it will kill their heat anyway.
Winner: The Naturals
Euan: Sonjay and Jay to win. The Naturals suck and no matter how many times they get "Franchised" my opinion of them will not alter.
Winner: Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal
Lance Hoyt & Ron Killings Vs. Alex Shelley & Austin Starr
Art: Shelley and Starr should go over but I have a feeling Truth/Hoyt win this one.
Winner: Hoyt and Killings
Casey: Euan is a little more excited about this or positive thinking about this match than I am right now. However, I hope Nash is on commentary as he makes this show funner to recap. As for this match, I see 1 of Nash’s comedian friends costing his other friend the match so we can tease more problems. Either that or 1 of the 2 steals the pin from the other and they work that way. I believe Russo has plans for Hoyt and Killings even if its not as a team, so I predict my latter scenario.
Winner: Starr & Shelley
Euan: This could be an interesting match, i think we all know that at some point down the line we are going to get Shelley vs. Starr for the right to be Kevin
Nash's bitch. But seriously if done right, this could be a very good storyline( by that i mean if Vince Russo actually pays attention to what he writes)
with a great match potentially. I am going to say Shelley and Starr will defeat their foes and begin the hopeful slow build to Shelley/Starr.
Winner: Shelley and Starr
AJ Styles Vs. Christian Cage
Art: I think Styles goes over in this match, another decent match-up.
Winner: AJ Styles
Casey: A match that could’ve headlined a PPV at some point, in the past present or future. However, we have it and it is 4th or 5th from the top on this show. Christian has a date with Sting eventually and so I don’t see him losing to AJ in a match that had a 2 segment build in between Bound for Glory and this show. I don’t see the point of AJ winning this match and while Russo tends towards the pointless I say not on this night in this match.
Winner: Christian Cage
Euan: If Christian decides he wishes to show why he is one of TNA's top stars that would be nice. He has fallen quite a lot in the last few months but the feud
with Rhyno seemed to be the beginning of a return to form for Mr. Cage. AJ Styles has always been in my opinion, one of TNA's hardest working stars along
with Daniels, Joe and a couple more. I am going to go with AJ as my pick since Cage got so fucked up in that cage match on Thursday night.
Winner: AJ Styles
NWA X-division title: Chris Sabin Vs. Christopher Daniels
Art: Should be one of the killer matches of the night, again I don't see a title switch so soon.
Winner: Christopher Daniels
Casey: Senshi is champ at BFG, Sabin wins at BFG, Styles wins on 11/2 iMPACT and Daniels wins on 11/16. This belt has been like an STD in a whore-house passed a long to everyone. It would be stupid to have Sabin job as it kind of ruins his cocky heel character and it would be stupider for Daniels to lose the belt so soon, but as we know in Russo’s world title belts are props. I hope just like the time he revealed that on WCW Live next time he says it he follows it up with a plug for a world title match. Have I begged to book this company lately?
Winner: Chris Sabin
Euan: Daniels to win, the lack of Senshi makes me too sad to type any more about this match
Winner: Christopher Daniels
NWA World Tag Titles: LAX Vs. America's Most Wanted
Art: Hope this one is a slobberknocker, AMW will put up a helluva fight but I can't see LAX losing the titles so soon.
Winner: LAX
Casey: I believe that Art, Euan and I all feel the same way about LAX. We know Ric hates the group but he has gone missing, I think the 2 events are connected. Anyway, as for this feud it hasn’t done a lot for me just yet. I mean Hernandez tossed my beloved across the ring a few weeks ago and he will pay for that at my hands. BTW, I have an open challenge that I’d like Gail to respond too…(oops, I just got a letter from the FCC and they’re not happy with this section of the post) anyway, LAX has had the tag belts for like a month now and in Russo’s world that’s too long. However, I see Gail getting taken out (I’ll come visit you baby) Konnan interfering on behalf of LAX, Petey Williams coming out to even things up and Senshi joining LAX to odden them up again. Yeah that’s about the right amount of mayhem for one segment.
Winner: LAX
Euan: It's no secret, i love LAX. They are a shining light in TNA and a group i always look forward to seeing whenever i watch TNA. The same cannot be said
for AMW, yes i agree they were great back in the old days of TNA but this is 2006 and i think the gimmick is stale and done. However, i worry what could
possibly happen if they were split up...."Dommmoooo!" It's Razor Ramon HG everyone, what say you? "Hunky American cowboys, FUUUUUU~!" Well, HG obviously
is still a fan. LAX to retain.
Winner: LAX
NWA World Heavyweight Title: Sting Vs. Abyss
Art: Hmm, not really into this one. I don't see Sting losing the title already and CERTAINLY not to Abyss.
Winner: Sting
Casey: This is one of those matches that will probably be too cute for its own good. Sting has had success with bigger men, in the ring perverts! In a wrestling match sickos!!! But that could be because one of those men was Vader when he was more awesome and less fat. I could almost see a title change here what with my not being certain if Sting has officially re-upped his deal, but hey why wouldn’t he? I don’t see either man holding the belt for long, but I’m just going to go ahead and pick Sting because I was a big fan back in the day.
Winner: Sting
Euan: This match is for the prestigious NWA World Heavyweight Championship and....i do not give a fuck about it. I hate Sting with a passion but the TNA fans
in the iMPACT! zone love him. I don't get it but then again there is a lot in TNA i don't get so what's new. Reverse Battle Royal anyone? Sting to retain
in a boring match where the only saving grace will be if Abyss pulls out some tacks and puts Sting through them repeatedly.
Winner: Sting
Dream Match of the Decade: Kurt Angle Vs. Samoa Joe
ART: this for some reason is a match that I'm very interested in seeing. This feud could've been held up and built upon for a while but TNA might as well strike while the iron's hot (and it ain't that hot considering TNA's Thursday night rating). I think Joe keeps his winning streak, should be an awesome battle.
Winner: Samoa Joe
Casey: So it has now come down to 1 match. Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe in what TNA is calling the dream match of the decade. Its probably not the dream match of the decade and by probably I mean definitely, but the title sounds cool I’ll give them that. So many questions, how will Angle hold up? Is this too soon? Did they give too much away on iMPACT this week? What do they do for a finish? Where does the feud go from here?
I’d like to go the old school route and pick a time-limit draw or a double knockout that leads to a no contest. However, since this is an old school concept that has worked in the past, and Russo hates both of those things, I think we actually get a clean win in this one. Now, part of me says Angle got the match with Abyss so he wouldn’t immediately lose his first match in the company. However, Kurt Angle has something Samoa Joe does not and that is a past in WWE. We know what that kind of thing will get you just ask the Vaginal Kunt Mucus. Anyway, I see it playing out like this. Angle beats Joe, but for some strange reason Joe gets a shot at the title before Angle and wins the belt. Joe takes the title and Angle comes back as the only man to ever beat Joe and challenges for the belt.
Winner: Kurt Angle
Euan: Main event time! This is a match i am looking forward to seeing but at the same time i worry for Kurt Angle. He is going in against a man who can take
a million chops from Kenta Kobashi and shake it off like a leaf hit him. I wasn't against TNA signing Kurt as it makes business sense but i feel Kurt
should not be in the ring in his current state. He should in my opinion: only be doing appearances and perhaps be a manager to a tag team until his back
problems have been dealt with but i am not Kurt Angle so it's not up to me. Samoa Joe to win with the Muscle Buster and hopefully we will not see the
first death in the ring of TNA's history.
Winner: Samoa Joe
Casey: There you have the Genesis roundtable. The Old Country Corner will have Live Coverage of the show at around 7:30 PM ET. I'm not sure what Art will do but check out his site and click his ads anyway. Euan will probably have some UFC thoughts as he watches last night's show tonight. Thanks for joining us for our humble little preview.
Anyway, tonight is TNA Genesis and CARE minus Ric is here to break it down.
