1. Jordan Radev Vs. Drew McFedries
-- Round 1: McFedries dominates early on with a round of punches, one of which catches Radev sending him to the mat as McFedries follows up with more punches on an out-cold Radev in 33 seconds for the win.
2. Anthony Johnson Vs. Chad Reiner
-- Round 1: Both men exchange a load of punches, Johnson gets the advantage and throws a right that knocks the hell out of Reiner in 13 seconds. If all the fights are like these two we just might see the entire card aired.
3. Roan Carneiro Vs. Jon Fitch
-- Round 1: After a bit of a dance in the octagon Carneiro takes Fitch to the ground, he has Fitch in a hold close to a guillotine. Carneiro rolls onto his back but Fitch breaks out of the guillotine and the fighters get back on their feet with Fitch holding onto Carneiro. Carneiro has Fitch against the cage as he throws body blows to break out, Carneiro takes Fitch down again. Carneiro gets Fitch in a guillotine-like hold again, round ends. Score probably for Carneiro due to both takedowns and was in control a bit more than Fitch.
-- Round 2: Fitch is more dominant as he lands a punch taking Carneiro down, follows up with more punches and taps out Carneiro with a rear naked choke.
4. Jason Black Vs. Thiago Tavares
-- Round 1: Tavares was in control of the round with a few take downs on Black, last minute of the round Tavares is on top landing several hammer-fist punches in Black's face. Round ends and pretty sure it goes to Tavares. Black's corner men are working on his eye which is way swelled up.
-- Round 2: Tavares takes Black down after some stalling in the cage, Black struggles to get on his feet but is trapped by Tavares. Black had a kimura on Tavares but let go, Black in Tavares' guard. Tavares slaps a triangle choke on Black who taps out.
5. MAIN EVENT: Sam Stout Vs. Spencer Fisher
-- Round 1: Both fighters trade fists the entire round, Fisher's in control with heavy combos though Stout retaliates with a sequence of punches as well, Fisher's bleeding near his right eye bad. Round ends with both men fighting to the bitter end, goes to Fisher.
-- Round 2: The battle continues, Fisher seems more focused throwing a variety of punches and strikes. Again Stout's on the defense as Fisher controls the round and attempts to take down Stout. Round ends, goes to Fisher.
-- Round 3: Fisher again total control almost taking Stout down with a punch or two, Stout can take a beating but it's taking a toll on him as he looks beat to shit at this point. Crowd's getting hot during the last minute, Stout's throwing more punches as Fisher's more strategic looking for a KO. Round ends with a flurry of punches from both fighters, awesome fight that was a pure battle and Fisher should win this one.
Judges scores the unanimous decision for Spencer Fisher, really no surprise there.
-- Final thoughts: fun show tonight with some exciting quick knockouts, a cool fight where the momentum changed in the Carneiro/Fitch match and of course a great main event that once again, was a pure battle. Not one shitty or boring fight on the televised portion, a thumbs up for tonight's Fight Night event. Well, this is a welcome surprise...I figured you'd just do a report when the show is over (which you're welcome to do of course what ever you want)
I'm looking forward to reading your coverage...its been awhile since you recapped a show that I can remember, so this should be nice. Now, not to put pressure on you but Mr. McMahon had a pretty big flame out last night on Raw, so you have to avoid the same fait.
Hey, how'd you set it up so that this would be at the top even if other posts were made after it? That's cool.
I won't be doing PBP though, that's a major pain in the ass. I thought of doing the "A Look Back At..." report but then I'd procrastinate and never post the report.
I changed the posting time in the blog settings to 8PM CST so the blog will stay on top of the site.
Also, I put out a bulletin on Myspace and also did my picks for tonight on our message board.
This is why I'd tell people you were the smart one...if they asked me such things.
By the way, you're still my hero for the Gail Kim pic you sent me.
you can thank gumgod.com for that one (Derek Burgan and Keith Lipinski's old website).
Actually, I prefer to thank Gail Kim...and she and I can work out the details of that later.
