ZACH GOWEN JOINS SPEEDROME AWA JUNE 13TH WRESTLING CARD

Blood Hound Underground Indianapolis Speedrome TM
Indianapolis, Indiana
June 11, 2007

AWA Professional Wrestling, the major league of professional wrestling since 1959, is back for its second year at “the World’s Home of the Figure 8” ® on Wednesday June 13th. The squared-circle superstars are back for more headlocks, body slams, and dropkicks off the top rope for fans of the sport. Tickets are on sale now for this colossal racing and wrestling event.

And once again this year, there will be plenty of exciting Speedrome racing action on the docket. The Jiffy Lube Late Models and Hornets will take to the surface for side-by-side competition. The night will begin with the full racing program, then capped off by a spine-tingling Jiffy Lube Late Model Figure 8. The AWA Wrestling extravaganza follows all that. Also, during the night will be an autograph session for the superstars of the AWA. It gives all the fans a chance to meet and greet the athletes up close.

ZACH GOWEN
Zach Gowen, (born on March 30, 1983 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American professional wrestler. Gowen has competed for all four of the top US promotions: World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on their SmackDown! brand, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), Ring of Honor (ROH), and AWA Wrestling Supertsars.

Gowen was diagnosed with cancer as a child. Because of that, he lost his leg at the age of 8. It was a necessary move according to his doctors and parents. Had the amputation not been done, Zach would have died. Gowen walks with prosthesis and he can wrestle with or without it. However, he wrestles most of his matches without it due to the uniqueness of seeing a one-legged wrestler compete. Known for his high-flying ability as well as his "one-legged" moonsault, Gowen was a fan favorite simply for the spectacle.

Gowen was determined to become a wrestler since he was a young child, and he spent a good portion of his teenage years training towards that goal. On March 16, 2002, he finally achieved his dream, when he debuted in the Independent Wrestling Revolution, losing to Truth Martini. On April 26, 2002 , he earned his first win, over Almighty Ray. He made his WWE debut on the May 15, 2003 edition of SmackDown! as a planted fan in the audience. That night he came to the rescue of none other than Hulk Hogan in his battle with Roddy Piper.

Gowen had some outstanding matches over the next few years with such super-talents as: The Big Show, Matt Hardy, Brock Lesner, and even Vince McMahon himself. In 2003, Zach was named rookie-of-the-year and most inspirational wrestler by the industry’s bible, Pro Wrestling Illustrated. Zach moved out of the WWE in 2004 and has been wrestling in TNA, ROH, AWA, and other organizations over the past fews years all over the country.
