Meltzer has dark results

The main card:
  1. Middleweight: Patrick Cote Vs. Scott Smith
  2. Light Heavyweight: Marvin Eastman Vs. Quinton Jackson
  3. Heavyweight: Mirko Cro Cop Vs. Eddie Sanchez
  4. Lightweight: Roger Huerta Vs. John Halverson
  5. Middleweight: Travis Lutter Vs. Anderson Silva

Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan are the hosts.

Fight 1: Middleweight Division
Patrick "The Preditor" Cote
vs.
"Hands of Steal" Scott Smith is up first.
The announcers first talk about Lutter not making weight.

Patrick Cote needs a win tonight, he's on a 4 fight losing streak in the UFC not counting Ultimate Fighter.

Round 1: Cote starts out with a leg kick. He lands another and then a shot to the body.

Cote has the clinch. Smith scores with a big right hand. Cote has been effective with the leg kicks.

Neither fighter has tried to go to the ground. Against the cage, Smith hits a nice elbow, Cote looks for the clinch and a knee with about 2:15 of round 1.

Cote takes Smith off of his feet, but Smith managed to get back to a standing position.

Cote lands a kick to the body towards the end of the round.

Scoring: Its Cote's round because of the takedown even though Smith made it up. 10-9 Cote.

Round 2: Cote starts with another leg kick just as he did in round 1. Cote is going for a takedown but Smith does a good job of defending as the crowd starts to boo.

Cote has Smith in trouble but didn't go in for the kill right away and Smith recovered.

Crowd starts to boo as Goldberg tells Rogan what movie he rented last night. Cote scores with another leg-kick.

The ref encourages them to speed things up. Cote is getting pretty confident.

Scoring: This is Cote's round as the crowd boos I'm guessing they're not active enough for the crowd. Its 10-9 for Cote as he had Smith rocked but why he didn't go for the kill is a source of confusion especially to Joe Rogan.

Round 3: Now Smith is starting out strong with a series of punches. The ref tells them to keep working.

Smith swings for the fences but it is not a homerun because it didn't land. Cote scores with an inside legkick. Smith is hit with a seris of shots to the body.

Smith is looking to score the takedown as the referee again encourages them to keep working.

Smith lands a right that has Cote rocked. Its a pretty back-and-forth round, easily the best of the fight.

The round is winding down as Cote hits another flury.

Scoring: I'll give this round to Smith 10-9.

Thoughts: The fact is that this wasn't what the crowd wanted to see and they let them know it. Nothing strategically wrong with the fight, but not what people were expecting I don't believe.

Official Decision: 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 for Patrick Cote

I gave the third to Smith but I can see how they gave it to Cote. The crowd is pissed.

Cote is thrilled he gets to talk to Joe Rogan. He finally gets a win in the UFC.

Fight 2: Light Heavyweight Division
Marvin "The Beastman" Eastman
Vs.
Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

Referee: Big John McCarthy

Round 1: The 2 fighters stare a hole in to each other as the fight begins. They start out in the clinch and its a stalemate, but McCarthy separates them before the crowd can get too wrestless.

They had another good exchange, but again McCarthy spilt them up.

Scoring: Close round, Quinton probably won at the end. 10-9.

Round 2: They start off working in the clinch, with Jackson scoring a few blows. Eastman lands a nice inside elbow and ducks under a Rampage shot.

A really gay exchange between Rogan and Goldberg which contains the phrase: "Awww, you're so sweet", uttered by Rogan.

Eastman nails another elbow. And just as the announcers talk about how Eastman is hanging in there, Rampage finishes him. He ended it with about 5 uppercuts in a row.

Winner: Quinton "Rampage" Jackson - 3:49 R2 via KO

Rogan with Rampage: Rampage thanks God, but not Jesus or Mr. McMahon and says this was the most nervous he's ever been. He describes the fight as black-on-black party. Rampage is looking for sparring partners, and is willing to pay. He wants to go out drinking with Chuck Liddell. He is one awesome promo.

UFC 68 'The Uprising' commercial airs.

Fight 3: Lightweight Bout
John "Hurricane" Halverson
Vs.
"El Matador" Roger Huerta

Let it be known that we're actually seeing Tito Santana Vs. Gregory Helms.

Round 1: Huerta scores with a knee to the face, and quicker than it took me to write that, it was over.

Winner: Roger Huerta - 0:19 in R1.

Rogan with Huerta: The knee hit the shoulder, and eventually an angle on the replay confirms that fact. No discussion need take place.

Fight 4: Heavyweight Division
Eddie "The Manic Hispanic" Sanchez
Vs.
Mirko Cro Cop

Randy Couture joins the broadcast team. I'm guessing, he won't be joining the broadcast team next month.

Marcus contends Mirko could stand to visit the tanning booth a few times.

Referee: Steve Mazagatti

Goldberg: "Good time to come back as a heavyweight, Randy."

Round 1: Cro Cop is just manhandling Sanchez with kicks and bunches. Sanchez does land a punch of his own to temporarily stem the flood-gates.

Cro Cop is now stalking his prey waiting for the best time to go for the kill.

Cro Cop is just slaughtering this poor bastard. Cro Cop has the choke at 1:15.

With about 30 seconds left in the round, Cro Cop gets the win.

Winner: Mirko Cro Cop - 4:33 in R1 by TKO

SCro Cop with Rogan: Cro Cop's answers are short and sweet. He's not much of a talker, but that's ok when you kick ass you don't need to say much.

We go to a promo for some Jim Carrey movie. I hate Jim Carrey and that's all I'm going to say about that right now.

Match 5: Middleweight Division
Travis "The Serial Killer" Lutter
Vs.
Anderson "Spider" Silva

I'm ready for a Silva Distruction.

The announcers are comparing Travis Lutter's Jujitsu skills to basketball players.

Round 1: Lutter is successful in taking the fight to the ground and is working from the top position.

Lutter takes Silva back down to the mat. If Lutter wins this fight, I'll laugh about him not making weight.

Lutter is dominating Silva right now, Silva was in deep, deep trouble.

Scoring: Lutter's round 10-9.

Round 2: Lutter scores with a takedown to start the second round. Lutter is locked in the triangle but is not tapping yet. Anderson Silva makes him tap finally. Lutter was in for quite awhile, but Silva's elbows forced Lutter to tap.

Winner: Anderson Silva - 2:11 R2 via triangle choke.
Tougher fight for Silva than I thought we'd see but he still won~!

The key is, that he won the fight on the ground.

Thank you for joining us for live coverage.
