I'm stunned
I didn't see Impact last night, but you can bet I'll watch the replay on Saturday.
However, looking at the recap done by James Caldwell over at The Torch I found the following exerpt.
Now a few posts back I was very critical of the future direction of TNA, and guess what, I still am!
However, one of my problems with the main event to Sunday's PPV was that Christian helped Sting for most of the match only to turn on him in the end. This promo at least is an explanation of why it happened that way. This is more than we typically get after an angle like that, so they have to be commended. The explanation isn't perfect (see below) but I do give points for effort.
As someone with very little patience I can relate to the idea of just helping someone and helping them and helping them only to see them continually not get it. Resulting of course in you throwing up your hands and saying, that's enough.
Its not a perfect explanation because we don't know really what it was that made Christian realize that Sting just didn't have it. We also don't know why it took Christian 8 months to figure this out.
You know what I would've done, as just sort of an extra justification of Christian's turn. I would've seen how well people were paying attention and gotten a plug in for a recently released DVD at the same time.
I would've had Christian say something a long the lines of:
I like this because it makes it look like you've had this turn planned for longer than it actually was and gets you extra publicity for something currently on sale.
I am under no impression that I will ever write for TNA or WWE, I am not qualified due to my obsession over continuity, my very long memory of seemingly minor details and my intimate friendship with logic.
However, looking at the recap done by James Caldwell over at The Torch I found the following exerpt.
- Mike Tenay sternly introduced a Christian sit-down interview. Christian said the truth is that he never had a master plan. He said he tried to help Stingover and over during the NWA Title match, but Sting just didn't show the desire to get the job done. They showed footage of Christian's repeated outsideinterference to help Sting. He said he decided it wasn't worth helping someone who wouldn't get the job done so he made a "gametime decision" to lay outSting and stop Sting from taking the belt since he didn't have the same passion. Christian went into full heel mode when he said he put the promotion onthe map as the company's big free agent acquisition. He said he got TNA the Thursday night timeslot. Christian said Sting gets the glory, which is farfrom the truth. He said Sting told him he loves him like a brother. "That's a crock of (bleep)," Christian said. He said he didn't screw Sting; Sting screwedhim. Christian asked how many former champions never get a re-match after never being pinned to lose the belt. He said he did it for Rhino and for theroster; that he would regain the belt. Heck of a promo from a full-fledged heel Christian. Really put a lot of sense into the main event at the PPV.

You know what finally made me pull the triggar and attack Sting? As I was standing over Jarrett, I was about to help Sting one more time, but then I remembered something. I remembered Lockdown. I remembered how I was hung by a chain from the 6 sides of steel. I also remember Sting and the interview he gave following my match. Not only did the great hero Sting not come out to help me, he didn't even care. I was supposed to be his friend, but he didn't even act concerned or like he cared about my well being. I remembered that and I at that moment realized that not only was Sting just someone that didn't have it anymore but he didn't deserve my help anyway.
