Porter Problem needs repair
The above link will take you to the article of the same title over at Raiders Blog
I have some thoughts on the Whitted/Porter starting debate.
Jerry Porter is a better receiver than Alvis Whitted. Whitted by all accounts is a nicer guy than Porter.
Who starts at Wide Receiver is ultimately meaningless as due to different formations and packages the third receiver may be on the field just as much as the second receiver over the coarse of a season.
I think that the point has been made. Porter tried to challenge Shell and got the short end of that tick. He's supposedly working and doing his job which is all you can ask from him really.
Eventually though, the punishment has to stop and he has to be let out of the doghouse or traded. You can't hold down a player just for a grudge and give a player of lesser talent more time out of spite. That's not how a winning organization works. The Raiders haven't been a winning organization for a few seasons now and handling things the way they are won't change things.
I'm not a big Porter fan but as I said eventually you have to say that the point has been made and move on.
