MLB Playoffs: Round 1 predictions

Its the AL and NL DS starting tomorrow and here is my assessment of how they pan out.

    • Twins 3, Athletics 1
All I know is that the Twins are built for the short series especially if you think about the prospect of seeing Johan Santana twice.

    • Yankees 3, Tigers 0
The Tigers limp into the playoffs and now they've got to play some playoff worthy baseball. In this writers opinion it ain't happening.

    • Padres 3, Cardinals 2
I don't know what to make of this series. On 1 hand St. Louis fell bass ackwards into the playoffs but on the other hand I hate picking against any team that features Albert Pujols.

    • Dodgers 3, Mets 2
I'm sorry Euan, though if it makes you feel better I am less certain of this pick than any other. I guess I'm routing for the Dodgers because of the 3 former Braves on the roster which are Greg Maddox, J.D. Drew and Raphel Furcal. Though the Mets do have Glavine and if I am not mistaken Julio Franco so on that premise its 3-2.

Its weird to write playoff predictions without including the phrases "Atlanta Braves" "Past postseason failure" "anual choke job" and my hallmark "but I'm picking them to win the world series anyway".
