UFC 70 Nations Collide Review

UFC 70 has just finished live in the UK and i'm here with a review of the PPV. If you don't want to know the results then do not click the link.

The crowd inside the MEN Arena in Manchester, England were rocking all night long and certainly made their opinions heard during the five matches shown live on PPV. So enough of this, let's get onto the fights~!

Cheick Kongo vs. Assuerio Silva

This was the opening match of the night and it was not the greatest of fights i have seen. Kongo dominated Silva on the feet laying in some hard punches and kicks which rocked Silva. But Silva had his secret weapon...takedowns. Unfortunalty, once he took down Kongo he seemed to have no fucking idea what to do as he just lay on him and to quote my girlfriend who watched the PPV with me "began to look suspicious". Basically every time he took Kongo down, he attempted to fuck him. This went the distance and Kongo got the split decision. The crowd did not enjoy this match apart from the Kongo punch fests which were great to watch.

Winner - Cheick Kongo by Split Decision

David Heath vs. Lyoto Machida

To put it simply, THIS FIGHT SUCKED 10,000 COCKS! This was the most boring 15 minutes of my life and i agreed with my girlfriend that both men should have lost the fight for being so fucking boring and lame. Both men were there determined not to lose their undefeated record and do nothing else. There was barely any offence in this fight at all, watching paint dry would have been more interesting. Thank God for the Orville Redenbacher microwave popcorn i purchased on my way out of work today. Machida got the unanimous decision, did i mention it sucked?

Winner - Lyoto Machida by boredom

Dana White had a big announcement concering the next season of The Ultimate Fighter and it was that the new UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Serra would be a coach along with former champion Matt Hughes. Serra called Hughes a dick in his interview with Joe Rogan, i already want to see this fight!

Michael Bisping vs. Elvis Sinosic

Look up "humbled" in the dictionary and you will find not only B.Brian Blair but Elvis Sinosic. He got dismantled by Bisping in what was the best fight of the entire show. From the opening few seconds to the end of the fight, Bisping kicked seven shades of shit out of Sinosic from every angle. Obviously since Michael Bisping was fighting in front of his home fans he wanted to impress them and he sure did. You have to buy this show just for this fight alone, it was a thing of beauty to watch Bisping completely own Sinosic.

He began with some shots on the feet and once it was taken to the ground, Bisping got to work with punches and brutal elbows that busted Sinosic open about the hair line and quickly he wore a crimson mask. Somehow Elvis made it to the 2nd round and nearly upset Bisping by submission on the ground only to have Bisping reverse the guard and rain punches down until the referee had seen enough and ended this one sided fight. Myself, my girlfriend and the crowd loved every second! 5* brutality!

Winner - Michael Bisping TKO (striking) Round 2

Andrei Arlovski vs. Fabricio Verdum

Arlovski got a huge reaction from the crowd in Manchester which surprised me as i was not aware that he was a big name over here but there you go. This was a good fight overall, not much to talk about really. Verdum looked good in his UFC debut and landed some good shots on Arlovski but it was not enough to stop Andrei getting the unanimous decision victory win and cemented his place in the heavyweight title race.

Winner - Andrei Arlovski by Unanimous Decision

MAIN EVENT TIME!

Mirko Cro Cop vs. Gabriel Gonzaga

Cro Cop was the crowd favourite and if you have heard the CARE preview of this PPV you would've heard us four give Gonzaga no chance in the world of winning this fight. Well....

we were wrong. The mighty Croatian was fallen by his own move tonight. Gonzaga KTFO Cro Cop by high kick to the head which was NASTY NASTY NASTY and he was KO'd as he headed to the ground and landed in a heap. Seriously the mighty Mirko Cro Cop was killed this evening by Gabriel Gonzaga and i was in shock, i could not believe this happened. My girlfriend and i initially thought that Cro Cop had broken his ankle because of the strange way he landed when he hit the ground but once he came back around he was walking around on it so that was good at least. Randy Couture came into the octagon afterwards and congratulated Gonzaga and said he was looking forward to facing him in a few months. I will not say who will win this fight as tonight proved that indeed anything can happen in MMA.

Overall this was a great PPV apart from the opening two fights but everyone should watch this tonight on Spike TV to see Michael Bisping OWN Elvis Sinosic and to see the fall of Mirko Cro Cop.

You're going to hate me for telling you this, but on the SpikeTV show, no boring Machida fight...we get Matt Grice and Terry Etim.
