ECW 5/29/07 Live Coverage
Welcome to the last ECW show before One Night Stand. I see that there are only 2 matches with ECW brand wrestlers in them. Odd considering this PPV was set up to showcase ECW. That's WWE for ya.
We start the show out with Randy Orton. He talks about his match last night then they show a video package for it. He then informs us that RVD has challenged him to a stretcher match for One Night Stand which brings Dreamer out. Dreamer says he's not gonna stand by and allow Orton to gloat then challenges him to a match. Orton accepts and says he'll kill the legend of ECW. That's gonna be hard to do since that legend of ECW was killed when they brought it back.
Commercial.
CM Punk vs. Burke in a No-DQ match is now up. No clear advantage yet with Burke taking a few cheap shots to try and take control. Punk chopping Burke down with kicks to get a nearfall. Burke thrown into the ropes, holds onto the top and gets clotheslined over. He grabs a chair, heads back to the ring but gets a baseball dropkick from Punk as we go to commercial. We're back with Burke having control in the ring. He gets control during the break by ramming Punks back into the ringpost outside. There is a table in the ring as well so look for it to be used. Punk gets a surprise rollup for 2 but Burke retains control and gets a couple nearfalls. Nice flapjack from Burke as he continues to work on Punks ribs. Burke props the table up in a turnbuckle. Punk with enziguri for 2. Punk sees the table, tries to throw Burke into it but we get several reversals with Burke gaining control with a back suplex. Cor Von has now come in with a chair but Punk uses it on him. Punk tries to hit GTS but Burke rakes his eyes which allows Cor Von to hit the Pounce on him through the table and Burke to get the pin.
Commercial.
We're back with Vince via satellite. He makes fun of Joey, Tazz's and Lashley's names then introduces him. Both look very confident. Lashley says he'll hurt Vince without having to use any weapons.
We get the same video package of RVD/Orton from last night. They could've used this time for either a backstage segment or a Snitsky squash match.
Commercial.
Extreme Expose is up. If they put Michelle McCool in this group it'd be even hotter.
Kevin Thorn vs. Balls Mahoney is up. Basic squash match with Balls losing cleanly to Thorn. I love that Original Sin finishing move.
Backstage with Major Brothers and Stryker. Stryker goes on about the match he had last week then gives us the word of the night that was odd I don't even know what it was. Major Brothers then remind Stryker about ther first win being against him and he challenges one of them to a match next week.
Commercial.
Main Event time. They keep saying that Orton wants to kill the Legend of ECW. See my comments on the first segment about that. Orton has been in firm control but gets caught on the top rope as Dreamer hits a superplex. Dreamer punches the crap out of Orton then gets a couple nearfalls. Orton tied to the Tree of Woe and gets a dropkick to the head then an inverted DDT for 2. Dreamer ducks another DDT then hits the RKO for the win. Who actually thought Dreamer was gonna win? I certainly didn't. Orton hits a post match RKO, fakes the knee shot he gave RVD last night then finally goes for it. RVD tries to make the save but gets hit in the head. Orton walks down the aisle looking at RVD as the show ends.
