Night one of my Nashville Wrestling Weekend took me to the weekly United States Wrestling Organization event. USWO is a Nashville based promotion that has been going strong for nearly seven years. After running in Springfield and Madison, the promotion currently runs at the Stadium Inn, 10 Interstate Drive. The promotion is run by Tony Falk and if that names sounds familiar it’s because he is mentioned in the books written by Mick Foley and Shawn Michaels. NWA Top Rope representative Mike Sircy was on hand. USWO ‘s TV will be back on Comcast Channel 74 in two weeks. It was great to see some old faces like WWRD, Trent Van Drisse and Ms. Lavonda. Larrrss of TNA Wrestling joined me for some gold ole’ fashioned Falking wrestling
(1) USWO Light Heavyweight champion "Pale Rider" Damien Payne defeated Justin Spade.
The announcer told the fans that Payne won the title in Metropolis IL on Sunday and the challenger began the match trying to win the belt in record time. Payne bailed to the floor after successive armdrags and Spade followed out with a clothesline. Spade backed the champ in for some chest chops and hit a corner clothesline for two followed by a legdrop. Spade went up but as the referee’s glasses fogged over, Payne kicked the challenger in the crotch. Payne tossed ethics out the window and made the fans cringe after an Otani kick. Payne went for the submission with a rear chinlock but the challenger got to his feet only to be knocked back to the canvas with an elbow to the jaw. Payne made a mistake in bringing Spade to his feet and he nearly lost the title to the Play of the Day. However the same move to the crotch saved him from defeat. A questionable rollup with the ropes ended the match, along with a title belt shot to the head.
(2) Robbie C. & USWO 3-way champion New York Gangster defeated Hangin’ Tough ("Gigolo" Jay & "Luscious" Quentin).
Before you ask yes they came out the classic by New Kids on the Block. Gangster and Quentin started out and the fans were solidly with NYG and Robbie C. Robbie and tagged in but the match stayed the same as Robbie kept countering out of moves and getting control until Jay backed him to a corner and kicked him at the beltline. The shot from our vantage point looked like a straight kick to the package. This allowed Hangin’ Tough to take over on Robbie for several minutes as NYG could only watch on. Robbie survived the beating and made the tag to Gangster. Actually all four men got involved as NYG/Robbie hit ten punches on their opponents. The victory occurred when Robbie hit Quentin with the Acid Drop.
(3) "Boogie Woogie Boy" Gary Valiant (w/Ms. Boogie) defeated Shane Smalls.
Valiant got a loud welcome from the fans as he danced his way to the ring and played mind games with Smalls. It worked until a corner whip and Valiant ran right into Smalls’ boot. Smalls took Valiant down with a chinlock but Valiant fought to his feet and hit the Boogie Woogie Kick and an Acecrusher to win via pinfall. As soon as the three count occurred "Tantalizing" TJ Harley & "New Age Assassin" Tim Renesto hit the ring and Valiant. However he was able to fight them off and take the mic to talk about an incident with himself and Wolfie D.
(4) "Flamboyant" Faron Foxx defeated "Your Polish Punisher" Michael Jablonski
If you never seen the “Flamboyant” one in action, picture a member of the FL based Heartbreak Express coming to the ring with a parasol and dancing to the dance diva Anastascia’s “One Day in Your Life”. He took some time to insult the educational level of the audience. Early on Foxx spent time keeping his distance from Jablonski. But when he did make contact with Jablonksi it went bad as Foxx was hiptossed and sent out of the ring. Foxx tried to enter the ring but Jablonski forced the middle rope into Foxx’s package. This made Foxx get the mic and chastise the referee for his non action. Foxx reentered the ring and got clotheslined to the corner. But when Jablonski went for corner splash he ran into Foxx’s boot. Using some fans yelling to distract the referee, Foxx went to his bag of tricks and used an object of some kind in a punch. Foxx thought he had the win with a sleeper but the fans cheered loud enough to energize Jablonski to his feet but not enough to avoid a running knee to the gut. Foxx hit clothesline but his legdrop only got canvas. Jablonski’s second wind came at the right time and he took full advantage with ten punches to the corner. The bad part came when the tenth punch was being thrown as Foxx hit a punch to the package. Foxx won via pinfall with what looked like his feet accidentally on the ropes. The fans told the referee they saw Foxx’s feet on ropes but the decision was not reversed. Tony Falk said he was booking a rematch for next Friday and if Jablonski wins he would sanction a whipping match.
(5) Arrick "The Dragon" Andrews won the USWO TV title when he defeated "Headliner" Chris Michaels.
According to the fans the USWO TV Title that was held up last week and this match will crown a new champion. Before his opponent ever hit the ring, Michaels said he thought his opponent was a complete coward, mentioning a match last Sunday. He also insulted Gary Valiant on his return to USWO and then demanded the referee count out Andres saying he wasn’t going to show. The referee gave in and got to eight when Andrews finally hit the ring. Needless to say Andrews is super over with he ladies and received several dollar bills. Michaels grew frustrated as this went on and jumped Andrews as he entered the ring. Michaels laid in punches and kicks before be tossed Andrews to the floor and followed him out. The action came back to the ring where Andrews let loose an offensive flurry that ended by tossing Michaels over the top and to the floor. Andrews went to kick Michaels but his boot was caught and Michaels dragged him to the floor for more fighting. The action came back to the ring with Andrews hitting a kick to the head for a two count. That offensive spurt was stopped by Michaels and kick to the face followed by a spinning neckbreaker. Michaels laid the boots to Andrews’ face and tossed him to the floor where he slammed Andrews’ head into the ring post. Michaels took the match back to the ring where he dropped his knee onto Andrews’ head and delivered several right hand punches. Michaels hit a Bronco Buster style move but his second attempt only met the middle turnbuckle. Andrews went on the attack with punches and a leg lariat for two. Michaels fought back with another shot to the neck. To no one’s shock Valiant appeared at ringside. This distraction allowed Andrews to win with a spinning heel kick to the head.
(6) "Tantalizing" TJ Harley & "New Age Assassin" Tim Renesto became USWO Tag Team champions when they defeated "Master of the Armdrag" LT Falk & "Sensational" Ty Blade.
If the name Renesto sounds familiar yes his dad wrestled and Tim is a former NWA World Tag Team champion (part of Disturbing Behavior with Jeff Daniels). Also yes Falk is the son of Tony Falk and got a huge ovation from the fans. The champions controlled the match for several minutes working over Harley’s left arm. Blade hit a leg lariat but it allowed Renesto to tag in but he ran right into an armdrag and Blade went to work on Renesto’s arm. The champions kept control until blade’s shoulder tackle to the corner only met the ring post. Renesto and Harley spent what seemed like an eternity attacking Blade’s left shoulder. Somehow Blade refused to be pinned nor did he submit and after hitting Renesto with a tornado DDT, finally tagged in Falk who was the proverbial “house of fire.” All four men fought in the ring and the champions got several two counts but in the end Falk hit Renesto with an Unprettier. The big problem occurred when the pin was broken up by Harley who with Blade fell onto the referee. With the referee down Harley grabbed one of the tag titles and smashed Falk in the head. He rolled Renesto over as the referee got some wits about him and counted the pinfall. After the match the new champs continued the beating even as Gary Valiant hit the ring. He was hit in the back by Chris Michaels.
