I'll be Dammed

We here in the Old Country always seek to acquire more knowledge, to modernize the Old Country if you will and we find the Straight Dope to be an interesting, informative and entertaining addiction.

The question linked above has to do with Dams and dam-related disasters.

I suspect that if the Hoover Dam becomes inopperable a lot of people will say "dam" and move on.
