Don't miss it
Old Country Give & Taker (2 thumbs up for that name) has posted a review of the History of the WWE Championship DVD. I link to it because I made like 5 posts while he was working on it and so its already buried under stuff.
Some other notes and thoughts behind the cut.
His review of that DVD has inspired me, so I will review the TNA Knockouts DVD that I picked up on friday. Oh yes, its true.
The first Old Country Caretaker review for this blog.
Speaking of TNA Knockouts: PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson mentioned in his audio hotline that there were discussions of putting Gail Kim in the X-division.
You know what? I have no problem with this and I'll tell you why. Number 1, its not like you can kill something even worse once its dead. The X-division is dead, and adding Gail Kim isn't going to kill it more...its dead, moving Styles/Daniels/Joe out of the division without having stars to replacement killed it, Kevin Nash's being Kevin Nash set fire to the dead body, so putting a woman in the division I mean what that would be like flushing the ashes of the division down the toilet?
I also don't have a problem with it because it would keep TNA from starting a woman's division which is something they need about as badly as the WWE needs 2 sets of tag team championships. Also, hey if there's no limits to the division why shouldn't a woman be allowed to compete? Yeah, its a markish statement but if they are going to put a woman in the division they could do a zillion times worse than Gail Kim.
Any thoughts on that?
Last thing:
I'm going to just come right out and ask this question. What the hell is with the Ironman match from Wrestlemania XII? Its on the new WWE History DVD that we reviewed here at the corner and brings to mind the question. I know I'm not the only one that hates this match, so for those that like it, if you're actually out there, just what the hell is so good about this match?
I personally have only seen the match once, and oh how I remember the tears I cried that day. I was watching on tape but decided to man up and watch it but dear God was it boring. If they were going to book the match the way they did, why not just have it go an hour instead of telling people that it was going to go an hour? Just book an hour match that goes an hour because that's how long it takes for a pinfall to occur not because they are forced to wrestle that long.
I hate these types of matches anyway, I think the psychology is all messed up in a lot of these matches because it takes Kurt Angle 25 minutes to beat Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania and 8 minutes to record a pinfall on Raw. But, seriously I have an open mind so if you like the match tell me why I'm a dumbass for wishing I had that hour of my life back.
