Is there still home field advantage?

I wasn't the only one to notice how many road teams were victorious yesterday.

Don Banks wrote on that subject for his SI.com collumn

This does baffle me a bit:


The reason being that I would figure that Home Field Advantage would help you for your first home game and for any playoff game, or any late season game where weather can be a factor.
I guess though that Home Teams don't get the rush of playing in front of the home crowd for the first time. Actually, I believe that Banks has the theory correct when he says that good teams win if they are at home or on the road.
Its one reason I love the NFL and hate it at the same time.
