Fight 2: Frank Mir Vs. Brandon "The Truth" Vera
I said this a couple of times, I hope Vera knocks Mir out.
I think the music battle goes to Vera.
Couture says we have to give credit to Mir for taking a tough fight. I'll give him credit for getting knocked out.

Irwin and Ramirez are friends, and now they're talking about Scott Smith Vs. Pete Sell from last week.

Round 2: Sylvia with the sprawl again, Monson has been very unsuccessful with the takedown. Since he's an anarchist as I said in my preview, he should go for the nutshot.

Sylvia is nailing a few blows but they're not doing much. Monson tries an overhand as the crowd starts to boo again. The crowd trying to encourage Monson, but its not doing anything. McCarthy is insisting that they like move or something.
Scott: This isn't the Ultimate Standing Championship. These guys would have to speed up to slow-down.
I don't think he likes this fight much.
Tim Sylvia nails a few more blows as the round ends.

Sylvia nails some elbows from the bottom and he's fighting hard to get out of this position.
We're in the side control now as someone's mouthpiece went flying. Monson is finally controling a round.
Now Sylvia has the top position and he's not standing up. Now he's decided to get back to his feet.
Dr. checks the cut near Monson's eye as the fight is restarted.
Knee rocks Monson as the round comes to an end.
Scoring: Monson wins the round 10-9 but it was made closer by Sylvia getting back to his feet after the takedown and by the knee at the end. 10-9 Monson.

Round 4: Sylvia is looking for a submission of his own about the middle of this round. He has the top position. Monson is getting a little bit fatigued but then as I write this he slips out the backdoor and now has the top position.

Scoring: This was a close one, not as much action as round 3, but it works. Sylvia gets my round 4 score 10-9.

Round 5: Monson's eyes are swollen and it is likely affecting his vision. Sylvia sprawls to avoid another takedown.
Sylvia can just sit on this one and he'll get the decision. Monson is very tired in the final round and really Sylvia could probably finish him if he'd press the action.

The fight is standing and boring. Crowd is booing, as Sylvia seems content to cruise to the decision. I want to see Sylvia master the art of finishing off a guy late. I know he's winning this fight regardless but come on.
McCarthy is still not happy with the action as this round has ended.

GSP gets the takedown. GSP with a nice knee and he is owning this round so far, but then B.J. Penn won the first 2 rounds in the last fight. Lots of Octagon time remaining.
Hughes trying to take GSP down but GSP is having none of it.
GSP nails a big punch to hurt Hughes bad right as the round ends.
Scoring: Fun round but 10-9 for GSP.

Round 2: GSP is just nailing some nice punches. GSP knocks Hughes down with a big kick and elbows and its over...its all over!!! GSP is your new welterweight champion!!!

Couture with St. Pierre: GSP is thrilled right now, he can't describe how he feels right now. GSP wants Hughes to come back for another fight, so do I, so do I.
St. Pierre will do his best to keep the title in North can territory. I love GSP!
Couture is with Hughes: He can't talk about what happened, he thought it was a punch that got him not a kick. He's going to go back and think about things.
Goldberg thinks they'll fight again, I'm not so sure.
Fight 7: Antoni Hardonk Vs. Sherman Pendergarst
Pendergarst is 39 years old and in his first UFC fight. It makes me kind of glad I picked Hardonk.
Tale of the Tape: Hardonk is taller but has no reach advantage. Hardonk is younger.
4-2, 6'4, missed the weight: Antoni Hardonk
Missed all of Pendergarst's stats, he is 6'1 I do know that.
Referee: Big John McCarthy
Round 1: Pendergarst has the top position early in the rount. After a few moments the fight is stood up by McCarthy. Sherman is tired and Hardonk knocks him out after the fight got stood up.
Give Pendergarst credit for taking the fight on 2 weeks notice.
Winner: Antoni Hardonk, 3:15, via Knockout
Couture with Hardonk: It was his first fight as well. He's happy to be here. Hardonk says that a professional fighter is always ready so only taking 2 weeks to prepare for the fight and having bad conditioning is no excuse. He used less words and worse English than I did.
Submission of the night goes to Joe "Daddy" Stevenson in his fight with Dokonjonosuke Mishima.
Couture says that whether we see the trilogy is up to Matt Hughes, but Randy thinks we'll see it.
Plug for Sanchez Vs. Riggs on 12/13 and then a plug for UFC 66 on December 30.
