WWE RAW 5/14/07 Live Coverage
Good evening Ladies and germs! It's time once again for RAW. I see on wwe.com that this will be Edge's last match on RAW which doesn't sadden me too much. I'm sure he can find some fresh feuds on Smackdown.
We atart out with WWE Champion John Cena. He comes out with a determined look on his face and without the title. Let's hope the closest Khali ever comes to holding the WWE Title is right now and not at Judgement Day. Cena seems to be on the verge of tears after what happened last week and he's actually trying to put over Khali. He goes from on the verge of crying to his usual self saying he's going to take it to Khali and demands that Khali come out with the WWE Title right now. Khali shows up on the Titantron with (finally) a translator. It took them this long to get him a translator? I now officially love the buildup for their match. Cena runs to the back to try and attack Khali but gets destroyed as we go to commercial. Great Khali as WWE Champion doesn't sound too bad as long as they keep the translator I think.
Jeff Hardy vs. Trevor Murdoch is our first match of the night. I was just looking over the Judgement Day card on wwe.com and I don't see their match listed. Murdoch gets a nearfall after dodging a turnbuckle move. Nice reverse neckbraker gets Jeff 2 and now they're fighting on the top rope. Jeff throws him down then tries to hit the Swanton but Murdoch gets his knees up. Jeff pulls a rollup out of nowhere to get the win. Murdoch and Jeff shake hands afterward then he and Cade leave the ring. A nice opener and I am very surprised that Cade and Murdoch haven't done any sneak attacks.
Commercial break.
Backstage with Coach, Umaga and the McMahon's. Shane says they got his back as we go to commercial.
Slam of the week is Santino beating Masters last week. Santino and Masters is now up. Masters gets an entrance this time but it doesn't take as long as usual because he's angry about his loss. Masters tries to apply the Masterlock early on but Santino gets out of it which really shows you that the Masterlock Challenge is over. Masters gets a nearfall then continues to work on Santino's back. Masters tries apply the Masterlock again but it gets blocked yet again. Santino tries to fight back but Masters hits a spinebuster for a nearfall. Masters tries to apply the Masterlock a third time but Santino rolls him up for the win. Masters attacks Santino from behind and finally applies the Masterlock. I would say fourth time's the charm but it doesn't sound as cool. Masters and Santino are actually putting on some decent matches lately.
Commercial break.
Another video of Austin's film with WWE stars being asked who they would put on an island to fight it out. I'm surprised they went 45 minutes before showing that, they have got to be slipping.
Melina has come out to do commentary for the Victoria/Candice match. She does her unique entrance on the announce table and I am so jealous. Candice pulled off some good moves early but Victoria takes control. Wow, Candice just hit some nice kicks and gets a nearfall. Candice gest the clean win after a nice heel kick. Candice motions about the Women's title around her waist and Melina says she's fat which was pretty funny. I am impressed with how good Candice has been the last few weeks and it looks like a Women's Title match isn't too far off.
Commercial break.
We are now "graced" by the appearence of the new World Heavyweight Champion, Edge. He gets a lot of pyro at the top of the entrance ramp then gets into the ring. He says he had the greatest week of any superstar in the industry but that's open for debate. We get clips of his match with Kennedy last week on RAW then his match with Undertaker on Smackdown. They've done a nice job of editing these videos to showcase the "greatness" of Edge. He then tells the fans that they don't deserve it and that The Great Khali is gone. He then talks about his World Title defense against Batista by saying he isn't worried about it. HBK comes out before Edge even leaves the ring. He says that if Edge wants to make a lasting impression then he should just leave. Edge's reply to that is the childish "Hey! Shut up!" This is all that's needed for Edge to take on HBK later tonight.
Todd Grisham interviews Lashley. He doesn't get to say much before Shane comes in and reminds him of the stipulation for their Judgement Day match.
Commercial break.
Vince, Shane and Umaga have now come to be at ringside for the Lashley/Coach match. Lashley takes Coach over by Vince then clubs him for a little bit, hits a sweet backbreaker then spears him for the win. Umaga and Shane attack Lashley right away who gets in a little offense then gets beaten down to the bottom turnbuckle. Umaga misses the butt bump, gets a spear then goes after Vince. Shane sacrifice's himself so Vince can get away and we get Shane hightailing it into a limo then Vince blasting Lashley from behind as we go to commercial.
Carlito vs. Val Venis is up now. I'm amazed Carlito is on this late and even more amazed that Val Venis is. Carlito in firm control of this match getting a nearfall. Carlito hitting an interesting missle dropkick for 2. Val gets a nearfall then fighting back. Val goes up top for The Money Shot but Carlito moves then hits the Backcracker for the win. Flair now runs down to the ring as Carlito runs out through the crowd. I see they're going to have a stacked card for Judgement Day.
Backstage with Orton and HBK. Orton wishes him good luck then says he thinks he can beat him and we get yet another match announced for Judgement Day.
Commercial break.
We get a preview of the music video the WWE Diva's are in then we get a video of what happened with Cena and Khali earlier.
HBK is shown walking backstage as we go to commercial. This was the second short segment tonight which isn't bad.
Main event time. We get a series of nearfalls to start with JR and King talking about concussions. Edge now shown 2 of the top turnbuckles and Edge answers with a kick to the head. HBK runs off the arpon to Edge on the outside as we go to commercial. We come back to HBK facefirst on the mat and Edge kicking his head. The ref tells Edge he wants a clean match but he, of course, doesn't listen. HBK tries to fight back several times but Edge hits him in the head and he still manages to kick out. Edge now going up top but HBK cuts him off, tries to maybe superplex him but gets thrown off. Edge tries for a top rope cross body block but HBK moves out of the way. HBK hits his top rope elbow and the SCM for the win. HBK still lives up to his "Showstopper" nickname. Orton has now come out and attacks HBK. He fights back but Orton low blows him then gives him a kivk to the head. Orton stands there looking at HBK as the show ends.
