BILL BEHRENS NWA NOTES for 6-18-07

BILL BEHRENS NWA NOTES for 6-18-07

6/16 NWA Anarchy Report
BY LARRY GOODMAN

NWA Anarchy put the finishing touches on the build up to Hostile Environment ’07 at last night’s television taping in Cornelia.

In seven days, Owner Jerry Palmer will boldly take Anarchy where no Georgia independent pro wrestling organization has gone before, the famed 2200 seat Mountain Center in Gainesville. And they will do it without using outside talent.

Most of the set up stuff worked well. A few things did not. If the previous show was a home run, then last night’s was a stand up double.

The crowd of 135 didn’t produce anything close to the insane level of heat at the previous taping. It’s not like they were bored. It felt more like they were holding something in reserve for the big show.

Ring announcer Eddie Rich opened the show with a ten-bell salute honoring Sherri Martel.

Rich then introduced Greg Hunter and John Johnson, NWA Anarchy’s announce team par excellence.

(1) Truitt Fields beat Jake Manning in 6:52. Fields blasted Manning with power moves in the early going. He picked Manning off the top rope with a press slam for a near fall. Manning took over with a power drive back suplex. Manning took a bump on his neck that made him mean. Manning tried to stifle Fields’ power, but ended up taking a big gut bump. Comeback time. Manning tried to come off the top, but Fields caught him in his sitout uranage to score the pinfall. It was stellar display of power by Fields, who is over bigtime. Manning clearly knew his role and took great bumps.

Palmer came out and said that nobody had climbed the ladder in Anarchy like Fields. He gave Fields props for taking the Anarchy Television Champion Jeremy Vain to the limit at the last taping. Palmer said Vain was a no show and by all rights he should strip him of the title, but that would just give himl something to cry about. Instead, Palmer granted Fields a title shot at Hostile Environment. “Go get the TV title, big boy.” Fields was mad psyched.

Next up was a backstage vignette featuring Anger Alliance. Adam Roberts asked Brandon Phoenix and Don Matthews for the results of their research on the greatest four man teams of all-time. The best they could muster was the Andersons. Roberts pointed out that they were never a team. Brodie Chase received another big money phone call from Salvatore Rinauro. Chase said Don Matthews would take care of Todd Sexton. Chase tried to keep the info about receiving Sal’s check on the down low, so it appears he’s scamming his partners. Chase bragged about bringing in the money like a leader should. Roberts announced he was working on a bigger and better deal. The NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion, Chad Parham entered the picture. Roberts said he was making the prestige move of taking care of Ace Rockwell, so Parham wouldn’t have to worry about him at Hostile Environment. Parham said forget the prestige. He told Roberts he was being paid to do a job and he better not screw up.

(2) Don Matthews (with Adam Roberts) pinned Todd Sexton with The Lariat after Salvatore Rinauro interfered (6:11). Sexton was ruthless aggression at the start. He got a front guillotine. Lots of MMA influence in Sexton’s offense tonight. Matthews responded with a big league fallaway slam. Roberts interfered liberally. Sexton felled Matthews with a series of leg kicks. Sexton unleashed a barrage of strikes, and got the crossface. The crowd, which had been dead to this point, chanted for the tap out. Matthews powered out. Sexton staggered Matthews with an enzuigiri, dropped him with a Flatliner, and applied a cross armbreaker. Roberts distracted ref Brent Wiley to set up Rinauro’s top rope elbow drop. Rinauro put Matthews on top, but Sexton kicked out. Matthews finished him with his Texas style lariat, which they’re trying to get over as a deadly finisher.

Rinauro accused Sexton of trying to make him look like an imbecile (as if he needed help), so the concussion he got as a receipt was his own d**n fault. Rinauro promised to end Sexton’s career at Hostile Environment. Rinauro was choking Sexton out when Kaleb Conley and Andrew Pendleton made the save. The fans are unmoved by Sexton, so this program works to the extent they hate on Rinauro.

(3) Patrick Bentley defeated Slim J in 15:56 to even their best of five series at 2-2. Mediocre pop for Bentley. J, on the other hand, is treated as a babyface star. This was similar to matches two and three, as J successfully used his ground and control tactics to throttle Bentley. J was mostly working for submissions. He would throw in the occasional big move and pin attempt to keep Bentley off balance The fans were quiet but they weren’t missing a thing. At 6:30, after getting almost zero offense, Bentley slapped the mat in frustration. J applied a punishing cutthroat headscissors, and J managed to bridge out. The crowd got behind Bentley’s comeback a bit. He hit the spring action kick for a near fall. J went back to the submissions with a front guillotine and a rear naked choke. J tried for a wacky variation of a Texas Cloverleaf, but Bentley fought it off. Bentley rallied with a fisherman suplex dropped into a neckbreaker across the knee for a near fall. J hit his flying reverse DDT for a near fall. They went back and forth with pinning combinations. Simultaneous forearm shots connected. J was up first. J went for a huracanrana, but Bentley countered with a Canadian Destroyer type move for the pin. A very good match. Pound for pound, J is the innovative mat wrestler on the planet. He’s educating Anarchy fans about a different style. I didn’t see match one, but this was better than either two or three.

“Slimmy, it’s 2 to 2,” said Bentley. “Are you gonna be ready for the next one, buster?” It got a modest pop. Again, the response for J was much greater as he left selling his neck.

(4) Ace Rockwell pinned Adam Roberts with Aces High in 8 minutes flat after foiling Chad Parham’s interference. Roberts was cheating on the breaks. Rockwell outsmarted him and caught fire. The momentum turned when Rockwell tried to skin the cat, and Roberts nailed him with a basement dropkick. Parham came to ringside with his Starbucks latte. Sound strategy from Roberts here, as he zeroed in on Rockwell’s back. Parham grabbed Rockwell’s leg to thwart a comeback. Rockwell made a move for Parham. Rockwell then tried to shoulder block Roberts from the apron, and got caught with a knee to the head and a swinging neckbreaker. After suffering more pain, blues and agony, Rockwell spinebustered Roberts and it was both men down. Roberts hit a skull cracker that looked suspiciously like Caleb Konley’s Homewrecker. Parham told Roberts to end it with a piledriver. Rockwell countered with a backdrop. Parham tried to intervene, but Rockwell kicked the latte into his face and hit his finisher on Roberts. Just beautiful timing on the finish. It elevated a decent match into something memorable. Rockwell grabbed the title belt and had to the pleasure of tossing it to the crybaby champ. Parham charged the ring, but Rockwell beat him back.

The opener and the main event scored major thumbs up as far as making me want to see the matches they were pimping for Hostile Environment. The other stuff, not so much.

(5) Sex and Money (Caleb Konley & Andrew Pendleton) beat Brodie Chase & Brandon Phoenix via DQ when the other half of Anger Alliance interfered (7:35). Typical tag match format. Konley took the heat. Chase hit a pumphandle neckbreaker and said, “Now, we go to mobile home school,” but Konley fought off the figure four. Konley hit an axe kick and made the hot tag, but the fans weren’t feeling Pendleton as a baby. It was a cringeworthy moment, as Pendleton’s cheerleading for himself was louder than the crowd. I think Roberts and Matthews attacked Pendleton before he even got a near fall. Roberts and Matthews hit their finishers to leave Pendleton laying. The bleacher fans chanted “Horseman Wannabes” at the Alliance.

(6) Mikki Free (with Al Getz) squashed Billy Buck in 2:10.[/b] Getz had the dog collars with him. Buck got instant “Brokeback Mountain” heat. Free proceeded to make the powder blue cowpoke his pregnant dog. Free pounced him before ending it with a pumphandle powerslam.

Getz said they would finish the job on Jackson in seven days. He ordered Free to “hang the hillbilly.” Before Free had a chance to make Buck swing, Jason Justice showed up at ringside. Justice said he hadn’t talked to Getz because he had some soul searching to do. Justice admitted that he had a conversation with Palmer, though. He said Justice Served was the most dominant tag team in Anarchy until Getz showed up. Getz called Justice a quitter, and brought up the many times he had come and gone from Cornelia. Getz invited Justice into the ring. Justice and Free started going at it. Justice had the advantage until Getz clubbed him with the chain. Free hung Justice over the top rope with the chain wrapped around his neck. Jackson and Palmer hit the ring. Free got nailed. Getz barely escaped their wrath.

Palmer said Free was going to get hung “like the dog you are.” Getz and Free stationed themselves at ringside behind a mysterious masked man in a hooded sweatshirt. Palmer sweetened the pot for the Dog Collar match at Hostile Environment: If Free won, “control freak” Getz would gain creative control of Anarchy. But if Jackson won, Palmer would get 5 minutes with Getz along with the dog collar and chain. Poor Justice had to lay unattended while all the talking was going on.

Awesome Attraction (Austin Creed & Hayden Young) vs. Hollywood Brunettes (Kyle Matthews & Andrew Alexander) never happened. Before the match could get underway, Seth Delay and Adrian Hawkins got up close and personal with the Brunettes. 6 way finger pointing ensued. Brunettes started going at it with Delay and Hawkins. Meanwhile, the Attraction brought an 8 foot ladder to ringside. Young did a Flying Squirrel from the top of the ladder to the inside of the ring on Hawkins, which was freaking amazing. The crowd went ape nuts. Awesome Attraction climbed the ladder with the tag belts and stared down at Delay and Hawkins. This group could produce a show stealer in their ladder match at Hostile Environment.

(7) Azrael (with “The Rev” Dan Wilson) pinned Kory Chavis (with Attorney Jeff G. Bailey) to win the man advantage for the War Games (11:10). Match of the night, hands down. To say these warriors have a history would be putting it mildly. Chavis has dropped some weight, and the opening sequence of the match shows how much it has helped his agility. In something of a tribute to Sherri Martel, Bailey raked Azrael’s eyes, and Wilson raked Chavis’ back. Azrael countered the patented Chavis Spinesplitta with an Ace crusher. Azrael’s knees and chops were pure evil, but anybody familiar with these two knew it was going to be stiff. Azrael applied a cutthroat version of a rear naked choke. They battled for control of the top rope. Azrael took the bump, but got his knees up on Chavis’ moonsault attempt. They did a double punch, double enzugiri deal that was both stiff and flawlessly timed. Both men down. Then up and trading. Chavis hit a spiral sitout facebuster for a near fall. Azrael hit the Fall from Grace for a two count. Chavis hit a sky high Spinesplitta, but Azrael kicked out of his delayed cover. The finish saw ref Harold James catch Bailey red handed with the powder. Meanwhile, Azrael used Wilson’s used Staff of Righteousness on Chavis. Azrael then murdered Chavis with the Ted Bundy for the 1-2-3.

Shaun Tempers hit the ring and joined Azrael for a beatdown on Chavis. Jeff Lewis and Phil Shatter came out to help Chavis. Dominous came out to even things up for the Rejects. A table made its way into the ring along with Bailey and Wilson. This was hilarious. They stripped their jackets off. Bailey punched Wilson. Wilson slapped at Bailey. Catfight! Catfight! Dominous went for Bailey. Out came Abomination. He left the Rejects lying in his wake. Wilson ran for his life. Dominous and Abomination wailed away on each other. Abomination tried to put Dominous through the table with a tree slam, but he never got full control of the move. Dominous slid across the table onto the mat. The bleacher fans gave Abomination a loud “you suck” chant. It was a moment that may have ruined the illusion of the invincible monster. Time will tell. Abomination put Dominous through on the second attempt, and ended up falling on top of him. Not exactly the image they were looking for here. Rejects dragged the limp body of Dominous to the back.

Although this is an epic saga of two heel factions locked in a death struggle, thus far, the sympathy factor has been tilted towards the outmanned NWA Elite. The addition of Chavis evened the odds, and now it appears that the Rejects are a man short going into the War Games…or are they?

The segment to build up the ladder match was the high point of the second half. The crowd loved the added stip for the Dog Collar match because they would love nothing more than to see Palmer get his hands on Getz. Azrael/Chavis had the fans revved for the War Games before the unfortunate postmatch thing with Abomination flattened them out.

NOTES: The card for Hostile Environment breaks down as follows: Rejects vs. NWA Elite in the War Games, Parham vs. Rockwell for the heavyweight title, Free (with Getz) vs. Jackson (with Palmer) in a dog collar match, Vain vs. Truitt for the TV title, Brunettes vs. Awesome Attraction vs. Delay & Hawkins in a ladder match with the tag titles on the line, J vs. Bentley to decide the best of five, Sexton vs. Rinauro and Anger Alliance vs. Sex & Money & Derrick Driver & Steven Walters…The Mountain Center has hosted a series of successful MMA shows including a show last night that drew over 1800. Promoter Lane Collyer gave Palmer permission to have fliers for the Anarchy show distributed to all those in attendance...Palmer said he’s hopeful that in the coming week, Anarchy will receive widespread coverage in the local newspapers…Rockwell did a 15 minute segment on the Bert show on Atlanta’s Q100 last week and will do another guest spot this week

NWA Anarchy byCa$hflowX
Episode 67
June 11, 2007

Last week at Hardcore Hell, Justice Served sentenced NWA Anarchy Owner Jerry Palmer to death by hanging, Chad Parham became the first dual champion in Anarchy history by pinning Ace Rockwell, Abomination sent Tank straight to hell by tree slamming him through a thumb tacked and fluorescent tube latent table and Abomination snapped Tank’s neck.

WRESTLING: (n.) \’res-ling\ A sport of contest in which two individuals face off in unarmed combat.
ANARCHY: (n.) \an-ar-key\ (1) A state of lawlessness due to absence of authority. (2) A complete lack of order.
What happens when you mix the two together? NWA-Anarchy!

- Welcome to another edition of NWA Anarchy. Greg Hunter was befuddled how Abomination nearly killed Tank. Johnson takes over the introduction as Hunter heads to the ring. This week, Jeremy Vain takes on Ace Rockwell.

- Greg Hunter is with the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight & TV Champion Chad Parham. Parham gloats to the ring as he enters to “We Are the Champions” and sporting a cup of “scolding” hot Starbucks coffee. It makes me wonder if Parham has been watching WCW Nitro reruns involving Flair and the Giant. Hunter is forced to hold the ropes for the champion. Parham tells Hunter that he didn’t receive the memo about tonight’s agenda and proclaims himself the best wrestler on television. If only Parham would piledriver John Cena and his bootleg carnation milk self through the ring to the arena floor, wrestling would be so much better. If human cloning were possible, Parham would even hold tag gold. Tonight, we are going to see which wrestler will lay his shoulders down to the mat in two weeks when Parham defends the TV Title. Remember, everyone paid to see the double champion Chad Parham.

1. Adam Roberts vs. Truitt Fields w/Don Matthews
THE MATCH: Johnson accuses Hunter of causing Roberts to suffer from clinical depression. Roberts has been through more partners than Lawrence Taylor had in 10 years. How about Roberts has been through more tag team partners than Hank Williams has got busted with weed? Fields dominates until Matthews pulls the top rope down. Matthews drops Fields throat first on the guardrail and follows up with a nice chop. Roberts focuses his attack on Fields’s neck. After commercial break, Matthews continues to assert nastiness upon Fields and even wrenches his neck on the post. Fields fights back with a powerslam, which prompts more interference from Matthews. Roberts sets to nail Fields, but he ducks and Matthews takes a tumble to the NWA Arena floor. Fields wins with the Sky High. Afterwards, Roberts scorns Matthews for botching the finish. Boy, Roberts sure has had bad luck with tag partners recently.
WINNER: Truitt Fields.
COMMENTS: Fields got a much needed win while the story continued to build with Roberts’s problems with tag partners. There were a couple of sloppy spots and too much interference from Matthews, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience.
RATING: *½

2. Hollywood Brunettes (Kyle Matthews & Andrew Alexander) vs. Caezar Chavez & Myric Moore
THE MATCH: Tonight’s designated jobbers made the ultimate mistake by turning their backs on the Brunettes. Johnson points out that Chavez shouldn’t have picked a wrestler from the women’s division. Moore spent the match getting his ass handed to him. Chavez receives the hot tag and cleans house. The Brunettes outsmart Chavez and destroy Moore’s back with a top rope double stomp into a lungblower. They pull him up after a guaranteed pinfall. Alexander seals the deal with the running knee in this squash.
WINNER: Hollywood Brunettes
COMMENTS: The Brunettes finishes is innovative and brutal.
RATING: ½*

- Hunter is standing with Justice Served and “Mr. Representation” Al Getz. Getz gloats about hanging Jerry Palmer, “When I saw Palmer with his feet dangling, gasping for air and with foam and bile coming out his mouth, it looked like vindication and justice.” Getz reminded Palmer, that like Vince McMahon, there is “No Chance in Hell” of outsmarting him. Getz concludes, “Like a black man running for president, it ain’t never going to happen.” He proclaims that it was the luckiest day of Austin Creed’s & Hayden Young’s life that they didn’t show up the first time to wrestle them.

3. Seth Delay & Adrian Hawkins vs. Don Juan & Patrick Bentley
PREMATCH: There is never a dull moment with the uber charismatic Don Juan. He addresses the crowd, “ladies, women and girls over the age of 18.” Now wait a minute, that doesn’t include a large portion of the female population in the NWA Arena. So I don’t think Don Juan will have a very successful pimping game tonight. LOL! Chris Marval was unable to attend, so Don appropriately announces Patrick Bentley as his tag partner.
THE MATCH: Bentley immediately goes to town on his former tag partner and his replacement. Bentley fights off a double team with a double clothesline. Don tags in and displays his offensive prowess on Hawkins. Delay takes exception and distracts Don when he turns to Bentley. Don fights back with a clothesline and single leg kick. He heads over to his corner, but Hawkins cuts him off. Delay & Hawkins take out Don with a chop block and clothesline combination. After commercial, they work over Don Juan’s leg. Hawkins slaps a half crab on Don, but he makes it to the ropes. Delay takes exception to a near fall and clobbers Don with a clothesline. Don buys himself time with a desperation neckbreaker and makes the hot tag to Bentley. Don Juan distracts the referee and Delay takes advantage with a chair shot. Hawkins wins with the Unprettier.
POSTMATCH: They set up to humiliate Bentley further, but Slim J makes the save.
WINNER: Delay & Hawkins.
COMMENTS: I hated this match live and even more on television. The crowd didn’t rally behind the highly charismatic Don Juan when the heels worked over him or when Bentley received the hot tag. When the fans are silent for wrestlers who normally receive good heat, it’s time to pull the plug on the experiment. Either Bentley should rejoin his old tag partners or set him up in a feud with a top face.
RATING: *

4. Jeremy Vain vs. Ace Rockwell
STIPULATION: Winner receives a NWA Anarchy TV Title shot in two weeks against Chad Parham.
THE MATCH: Chad Parham in all his glory heads out to join the announcing team. Vain launches an attack while Rockwell is distracted with Parham, but it is all to naught. Rockwell wipes out Vain with a pescado. Back in the ring, leaves his mark on the Untouchable with 10 Shots to the Dome. Parham calls both wrestlers two unknowns despite holding numerous titles. Vain ties Rockwell to the Tree of Woe and lands a baseball slide. To the floor, Vain slams Rockwell. After commercial, Rockwell scores a two count with a Sunset flip from the apron. Parham spreads the room that Rockwell takes the pin better than anybody in the Anarchy locker room. Wow, that was low. Vain maintains the advantage using heel tactics. Parham continues to down both participants and successfully beating numerous international superstars. Hunter informs Parham that he is also a junior heavyweight like Vain and Rockwell. Vain performs the ultimate form of self-castration and Rockwell fights back. Parham says he would enziguri their teeth out and piledrive him to the floor. Parham walks over to ringside, takes a sip and tosses coffee into Vain’s face. The referee disqualifies Rockwell as Parham laughs at screwing him. Vain smirks as he celebrates by mounting the top turnbuckle.
WINNER: Jeremy Vain by DQ.
COMMENTS: This match had the fun, clever and predictable screwjob finish. It also helped set up Vain’s potential run as television champion and Rockwell challenging Parham for the Anarchy title down the road. It’s amazing what a great worker Rockwell is. A good run as TV champion should help Vain elevate himself to main event status.
RATING: **

- OVERALL: It’s really hard to follow up on the booking end a week after Hardcore Hell. Unlike WWE right after Wrestlemania, Anarchy followed up with good storylines with exception of the Bentley vs. Delay & Hawkins feud. Getz was a quote machine and it would nice to see more of Don Juan.

Pre-Show summary:

Arya Davari explained why he joined Rev. Ben Johnson
last month, and that because of the Reverend's
guidance, Arya still has the MAW Light heavyweight
Title. This prompted the Reverend to come to the ring
and explain to Arya that he wouldn't be getting his
ACW X Division title shot tonight, mainly because
Johnson gave Nick Colucci the month off. Justin Dredd
then came out, demanding he get a shot. The Reverend
explained that after losing to Colucci six times in a
row, and not being smart enough to see that the entire
time Colucci, The Reverend, and Dredd's own manager
Miss Anne had a plan to screw him over, Dredd didn't
deserve anything. The Reverend then offered a match up
to the fans, allowing Dredd and Davari to compete for
a shot against Colucci next month. The winner of the
match would be allowed to name any match they wanted
against Colucci. Jason Jerry then got his shots in on
the Reverend, announcing NWA:WI's show on June 30th
with Austin Aries. Jerry also announced that ICW
joined NWA:WI as an affiliate, as ACW is. Jerry also
assured the fans that if Johnson tried to do anything
he shouldn't be doing, he'd have no problem removing
the Reverend. Tony Mega then got in the face of the
Reverend, which resulted in Johnson bringing out
"Tattooed" Mark Phieb from ICW. Mega picked up the
victory, showing he can win in singles competition.
Johnson then got back in the ring, only to be
interrupted by Brandon Madrox. Madrox came to the ring
with a guitar and sang a song to the Reverend to cheer
him up. The song didn't please the Reverend, and as a
result Madrox's opponent was announced as Adrian
Lynch.

Quick Results:

Tony Mega def. "Tattooed" Mark Phieb

Adrian Lynch def. Brandon Madrox

J-Cash def. Jerry Stylz

Tejas def "K-Train" Kody Rice

"The Living Legend" Larry Zbysko def Derrick St.
Holmes, Esq.

Steve Stone & Hardcore Craig def. The Dream Police

Dysfunction def. "El Vato" Jose Guerrero

#1 Contendership for the ACW X Division Title:
Justin Dredd def. Arya Davari
-Dredd then announced that he would make next months
match for the title a 3 way dance between himself,
Colucci, and Davari.

NWA PRO/Rising Phoenix Wrestling Results: June 9th, Mesa, Arizona

June 9, 2007 was a history making night for Rising
Phoenix Wrestling. Partnering with NWA Pro, The
Broadway Recreation Center in Mesa, Arizona hosted a
first round match in the NWA World Heavyweight Title
Tournament. Other matches included an encounter for
the RPW Championship, and a feud was settled in an
“I-Quit” match. Full details are below.

The Latin Terra “X” pinned Payed Daily following two
fisherman’s busters. X was impressive in his RPW
debut, controlling the entire match and finishing
Daily off in rapid fashion.

Johnny Dynamite pinned “Miracle” Mike James; “XXX”
Lawrence Tyler attacked Dynamite after the match,
drawing Brandon Nitro to the ring. Tyler then used the
RPW interview set to proclaim that Nitro didn’t earn
his title shot, and he would prove that point later in
his title match tonight.

Mikey Nicholls and “The Limited Edition” Tommy Drake
defeated The Navajo Warrior and Tommy Kim. Nicholls &
Drake spent the opening portion of the match avoiding
their opponents, hoping to quiet the crowd who was
vocal in their support of Navajo & Kim. The match was
a very competitive one, with Nicholls sneaking in a
pin against Navajo Warrior after he and Drake double
teamed Navajo behind the referee’s back.

RPW Commissioner JS Crock came out to announce that
the grudge match between The Hawaiian Lion and Black
Metal would now be an “I-Quit” match. Due to the
violence level that the feud has reached, he also
announced that this would be their last match. The
Hawaiian Lion came out and demanded the match take
place immediately, and Crock was quick to accommodate
his request.

The Hawaiian Lion forced Black Metal to pass out with
a modified camel clutch using a pipe wrench to win the
“I-Quit” match. The ring could not contain this match,
as both men fought through the locker room, arena
entrance, concession stand, throughout the entire set
of bleachers and the ringside seats before finally
bringing the action into the ring. Lion was able to
avenge Metal’s previous actions by forcing him to pass
out with the same pipe wrench Metal has used against
opponents in the past.

Following intermission, “The Voice of RPW” Greg
DeMarco started a live interview with RPW president
Earnest Guill regarding RPW’s relationship with NWA
Pro Wrestling and the tremendous honor RPW received in
hosting a first round match in the NWA World
Heavyweight Title Tournament. Glamour Boy Shane, one
of the participants in the tournament match, took
exception that an interview regarding the championship
could take place without him being invited. He
promised to advance past the first round match tonight
and prove to the other 15 men in the tournament that
he will wear the title before any of them ever get a
chance to touch it. Footage of this interview will
soon be available online through the NWA.

“XXX” Lawrence Tyler pinned “Mr. 300%” Brandon Nitro
to retain the RPW Championship after leveling the #1
contender with the title belt behind the referee’s
back. Throughout the match, Tyler couldn’t put the
challenger away, and nearly lost his coveted title to
Nitro several times. His frustration against Nitro
forced him to resort to such tactics to once again
retain his championship. “Miracle” Mike James entered
the ring to join Tyler, but any attack against the
challenger was prevented when Johnny Dynamite ran out
from the locker with a chair in hand. “XXX” claimed
this would be Nitro’s only chance at his title, but
Nitro asserted that this was far from over.

“Bonecrusher” Fred Sampson pinned Glamour Boy Shane in
a first round match in the NWA World Heavyweight Title
Tournament. The crafty veteran Shane controlled much
of the match, but had a hard time putting the young
sensation away. Sampson showed the passion and fire
that the NWA saw when they entered him in the
tournament when he kicked out of the Glamour Boy’s
“Elbow from Heaven.” Sampson soon hit the “Bonecrusher
Powerslam” to score the biggest victory of his young
career, advancing to the tournament quarterfinals
against Brent Albright.

Sean Denny Returns! Mike Booth Returns!

But is the NWA Big Enough for the Both of them?

(Chesterfield, Va) Sean Denny is a former Virginia State Heavyweight Champion, a former Virginia State Tag Team Champion, and a top contender for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship and World Heavyweight Championship. His career was ready to sky-rocket to the top. Unfortunately, a torn rotator cuff during a match with Joey Silvia stopped Denny cold. Some have advanced an idea that Denny was taken out thanks to a bounty placed by Timmy Danger and Pharaoh. However, no proof has been brought forth to substantiate that claim.

"Big Time" Mike Booth is a former NWA Alpha Champion, a former multi-time NWA Virginia State Tag Team Champion, and a top contender for just about any belt, be it regional or national, that the NWA has to offer. Booth, the current VCW Heavyweight Champion was ready to propel himself upwards in the ranks of professional wrestling, much like his partner Damian Wayne. Unfortunately, his plans were also derailed thanks to injury. During a VCW show Booth was defending the VCW title against Pat Q-Sic. Q-Sic, being who he is, used a chair on Booth and cracked his skull. Booth was out with an aggrevated concussion for several months. His career hung in the balance.

Both men, both wrestlers, have a history with each other, and have feuded several times over the NWA Virignia State Tag Team Titles. Both have clashed over titles through-out the Mid Atlantic area. Both called NWA Member Rick OBrien several times to keep updated on the goings on within the NWA and wrestling in general. As both men healed, their career paths continued to parallel each other.

Both men returned to an NWA ring and active competition on June 2. As a matter of fact, Shy, the manager of both Denny and his brother Marky D, signed Mike Booth to a contract to represent him professionally. The entire night was going very well until Booth turned on Denny and Marky D and laid them out. He also carried out his new manager Shy.

Below is an interview from former NWA Virginia State Heavyweight Champion Sean Denny taken a few short days after the events that took place on June 2 at the NWA Championship Wrestling from Virginia show at Ground Xero, in Richmond.

Interviewer: Sean, it is great that you have taken time out to answer a few questions for us.

Denny: Thanks for the call.

Interviewer: Nono..thank you for allowing us in. With your injury, subsequent return, and then the actions of Mike Booth, then the reaction from the crowd...June 2 had to be an emotional rollercoaster for you.

Denny: Well I have had all week to sit at home and look back on what happened June 2nd. It truly was a bittersweet night for me. The 5 plus minute standing ovation from the crowd, The chants of “welcome back” from everyone in the building made the 5 months of rehab seem like they never happened. And the passion of that crowd made me forget briefly as I was overcome with emotion what had transpired right before that.

Interviewer: And what exactly did happen?

Denny: You know, I make no bones about it. A well thought out plan pulled off to perfection is exactly what this was.

Interviewer: You obviously think this was planned a long time ago?

Denny: If you don’t mind I’ll take you back a few months . I had just gotten to the point of rehabbing my injuries and the physical therapist was letting me go start training for a return to the ring. So I looked to the man who gets me ready for all my fights, my brother Marky. Around this time my Contract was coming up with NWA-Virginia and Shy was handling all the details on that. Shy came to me and told me that she had seen Booth at the NWA offices, He too was returning from an injury (concussion). She told me how Mike Booth was unhappy with the OSE, he felt overlooked and was looking to have someone help renegotiate his contract for him. Knowing Shy had managed me to not only the NWA Virginia Heavyweight Championship but also the NWA Southern Pro Wrestling Championship, he thought she would be the right person to manage him. I agreed it would be smart business to hire one of the top wrestlers in the Mid-Atlantic and the deal was done. Shy completed the negotiations for not only Mike Booth and myself, but was able to Negotiate Marky D’s first NWA contract with Rick O’Brien putting the Denny Boyz together.

Interviewer: So you were satisfied with the deal, then?

Denny: Oh yeah. What started out as just a business deal quickly turned into a fast friendship. We all trained together, Drank together and hell even on a few late night pub sessions fought together. One thing was sure with June 2nd fast approaching, we were not only ready to step back in the ring, but the four of us were ready to put the wrestling world on its Arse!

Interviewer: Okay, we have the background. Fast forward to June 2. What happened?

Denny: Booth and Marky fought and won there matches, I wouldn’t expect anything less. Then it was my turn. The butterflies churned in my stomach as I worried if I was coming back to fast. There was even a point during the match when that sadistic little

**tch Krotch nailed me with a single arm DDT from the top that I thought I had re-torn everything. I fought through the pain and had Krotch locked in the Geordie Crab, I could here his hand pounding the mat, I see Booth slide in the ring and………….

POW! Lights out. I wake up to see my brother laying face down and Mike Booth with his arm around my [expletive deleted] fiancé. I remember trying to get to him but my body wouldn’t react the way my brain wanted it to. I remember that mother [expletive deleted] beating on me over and over with a chain! I was unable to defend myself!

Interviewer: What about Shy?

Denny: [LONG PAUSE] Shy? Shy was just smirking at me. I can remember slipping in and out of consciousness until a pile driver put my lights out.

Interviewer: This had to be a very tough night for you personally, and professionally. What about on the way home?

Denny: The car ride home was hard, a lot of emotions. My right eye had completely sealed shut and Marky had received 9 stitches in his lip. I don’t think a word was spoke between us. I arrived back to my apartment to discover all Shy’s belongings already gone. To put the icing on the cake there was a note left from Shy and her lawyers reminding the Denny’s that by way of our contracts she is entitled to 20% of all incomes made from the sport of professional wrestling, and she will be giving that to her new client as a bonus.

Interviwer: Her new client being Mike Booth?

Denny: Yes Mike Booth.

Interviewer: What are you going to do? What about Mike Booth?

Denny: Now I could sit here and [expletive deleted] whine about it, or I can be the man my Granddad and Dad raised me to be. Mike Booth, you want to &$^@ with my life pal? You want to test your balls against me, mate? This is the best plan you and that tart could come up with? Your not the first to try and use me as a stepping stone for there own success and I’m sure your not going to be the last. So think about this “Big Time“: if it’s a fight you want, it’s a war your going to get. And, you *&%$ing piece of shite, I’ll be ready for you. There’s no sneaking up on people this time, you [expletive deleted]! You attacked the wrong British Badboy this time.

Oh and one last thing sunshine. Lets see how long that skank sticks around after I turn her meal ticket into a drooling, colostomy bag wearing vegetable.
