An all-too-common occurrence

As noted in Billy Krotchsen's live report of yesterday's ECW in White Plains, New York house show elsewhere on PWInsider.com, Kurt Angle was injured while wrestling Rob Van Dam during a leap to the ropes followed by suplexing RVD off. In performing the move, Angle actually suffered a pulled groin, a recurring injury for him in recent months. He's slated to gut it through and work both tonight's house show and tomorrow's ECW on Sci Fi taping in Washington, DC.

You know I like Angle as much as the next guy but this is really quickly becoming what his career is going to be known for from this point on. Angle doesn't know how to do anything less than give it his all and he pays the price for it with the toll it takes on his body. We all already know about the wellness trouble and anyone that thinks that his problems in that regard are over probably won't like whatever ends up being the results of their next tests.

I remember how when Angle made the move to ECW everybody said it would be the best thing for him because he could work a softer style that wouldn't put such a strain on his body and he wouldn't be working as many dates as he would if he remained on Smackdown.

Nice idea in theory but nothing has really changed. Why has nothing changed? Because Kurt Angle is Kurt Angle and he's always going to be Kurt Angle.

Bryan Alvarez has stated numerous times that he sees this whole thing ending in tragedy and I am hard pressed to come up with any good reasons why it won't play out exactly that way.

Sure, this is just a pulled groin and on the surface that's hardly a big-time alarm of anything but it is in this case because of who we're talking about and the plethora of injuries he already has.
