Summerslam thoughts even though I didn't see it.
I want to straight up say that since I didn't watch Summerslam, I can't say for certain that I would've hated this show. My opinion on how I would've felt about this show is only based on the results that I have read and heard. If I had been watching, I might have felt differently, but looking at things I'm going to predict if I had watched this show that I would've hated it more than any other PPV I had seen this year.
*We had women interfering in 4 matches on a 7 match show. I think all but 2 matches had interference total.
*You had the exact same thing play out in the Smackdown title match and the Raw title match but with 2 different results. Face has heel up for finisher, heels woman interferes on Smackdown its a DQ, and on Raw it is nothing. I've heard it said that TNA has different rules for different wrestlers, well the WWE apparently has different rules for different brands.
*Flair and Foley di thumbtacks and barbed wire 3 minutes in? I didn't see what led up to this so I can't say for sure that I would've thought it was too soon, but I don't like when the gimmicks just come out with no rhyme, reason or build. Maybe if I saw the match I would feel differently but as a rule I'm not a fan of bringing that stuff out 3 minutes early.
Plus, it looks as though we had a similar Finish to this I Quit match as there was to the last one that I remember which was JBL and Cena. The face in the situation threatens to do something to the heel or in this case to the heel's friend and that makes the heel quit. Just from the way it reads to me, it sounds like Foley and not Flair was the babyface at the end of the night. Flair threatens to beat up a woman and Foley for the good of her safety gives up, I think if it were Edge and Lita that Edge's character would've said "go ahead" which is the heel move.
*I hate the Guerrero stuff and have no desire to see anything connected to it. The crowd booing Rey surprises me none and surprises me even less when they booed for him doing the Eddie spots. That's not because they genuinely hate Rey Mysterio they just hate his playing into this angle. At least that's my sense of the situation, its hard for me to think that this was the we hate you for real type booing that Cena gets.
*Sounded like the main event was best match on the show, but I probably wouldn't have liked the finish given the finish to Booker/Big Dave.
I will say this, I might've hated the booking but it looks like in almost all cases the right person went over. I question whether Booker shouldn't have pinned Batista but a cheap DQ does the same thing I suppose. Hogan going over is whatever, I don't think it matters either way honestly. I get the feeling that more and more people know what the deal is with Hogan and are beginning to understand why he wins all his matches and so I don't really think it hurts Orton and it sounds like they gave him an out anyway.
I am going to defend the WWE on 1 aspect of the show I didn't see. People say that they have devalued the ECW title by putting it on second. If this were any other show I might agree, but really where else were they going to put it? If they put it after the Smackdown title match then the complainers say: "Ah ha, see, ECW is more important than Smackdown." Do you really want ECW to have to follow Hulk Hogan? Do you want to do an ECW match anytime after you do that I Quit match? I have no problem where the ECW title match was placed on this show. Besides, its not like any of the belts mean anything anyway.
So there are the thoughts I have on the Summerslam results. Again, as I said I don't know that I would've for sure hated the show if I had watched everything play out instead of reading about it but this show did feature quite a bit of my pet peeves.
Sounds like 2 good matches, a bunch of weird finishes and everything else was there.
