Braves beat Cubs

3 home runs prove that chicks still dig the longball.

For as disappointed as I am in the Atlanta Braves season, at least they generally beat the bottom end teams that they should beat although they did have some trouble with Pittsburgh not all that long ago.

5 games under .500 they'll have to work hard to get above that mark.

This is weird. The Braves were the first baseball team I ever actively watched on TV.

I became a die-hard fan with the 1993 NL Western Division pennent race with San Francisco.

The first Braves game I watched was I believe a very early regular season game against the world champion Cincinnati Reds in 1991. That would be the first year the Braves won their division and they wouldn't lose a division championship for 14 consecutive seasons although they were trailing the Montreal Expos when the strike ended the 1994 season.

All this to say I don't really know what its like to have a bad baseball team. I wonder if my fan nature can be called in to question. I have watched less Braves games this year than in any other year in recent memory. I have watched less baseball this season than in years past. I don't know what if anything that says, but I do know its weird for me to sit here in September and think that I could not be seeing my team play Playoff baseball.

Then again, how the Braves did in the playoffs most of the years of this run, that might be a blessing.
