Tom Murphy Vs. Jake O'Brien off of UFC 72 'Victory'

It would figure that the day after writting up my predictions for UFC 72 I would find this out. However, according to UFCJunkie.com O'Brien had to pull out of the heavyweight contest with an injury. Murphy then agreed to face Justin McCully but then McCully also had to withdraw from the fight.

The fight is off of the show entirely, at least if you look at the fight card on UFC.com it is anyway. This suggests to me that UFC has ruled out finding someone on this short of notice. An American would likely be out of the question just due to the paperwork to leave the country and maybe there's nobody locally that would take it.

The bout was not one of those scheduled for the pay per view telecast but could have aired if other fights had gone short.

Rumor: Upcoming Fights in UFC

A couple of rumors I thought I'd pass along.

UFCJunkie.com reports that Chris Leben is scheduled to fight Kalib Starnes on a UFC show in May.

wrote this in response to a mailbag question regarding Brandon Vera.

I do have it on good authority, though, that Vera will fight Jake O’Brien. All signs point to the UFC doing anything it can to leave a black mark on Vera
as he appears headed in another direction.
