Italy's Il Marchese (The Mystro) with the Countess of Italy will join TNA's Cowboy James Storm and Father James Mitchell on Support the Troops 18, "Fight for Freedom Sunday July 29th at the Funking Conservatory's !BANG! TV Taping.

In a Tag Team Championship Match, Johnny Magnum and Shane Chung will face James Storm and Blain Rage. Dory Funk Jr. will be in Magnum and Chung's corner. Father James Mitchell will be with James Storm and the Pop Tarts will be in Blain Rage's Corner.

For the International Championship, Flyin' Ryan "Air" Mitchell with Sandii Skye will face Il Marchese with the Countess of Italy in his corner.

In a Florida Championship Match, Flyin' Ryan "Air" Mitchell with Sandii Skye will face Blain Rage (Champion) with the "Pop Tarts" Lady Kimberly and Miss Vicki in his corner.

In a Women's Three Way Championship Match, Miss Vicki (Champion) will defend against Claudia (The Claw) Reiff and Lady Kimberly.

In a European Championship Match, Elvi$ Sharp (Champion) with the "Pop Tarts" Miss Vicki and Lady Kimberly will face Cory Squires with Father James Mitchell. James Storm will be in Miss Vicki's corner. Johnny Magnum will be in The Claw's corner. Blain Rage will be in Lady Kimberly's corner and Father James Mitchell will not be banned from ringside.

Funk's Corner - Professional Wrestling and Competition

Professional wrestling is a very competitive business. To get to the top and earn the "Big Money" is extremely competitive and can leave many disappointed. So will the movies, network news-casting, Broadway, the NFL, politics and writing editorials for the New York Times.

For those who make it to the top, professional wrestling can be very rewarding. Just ask Ric Flair, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle, Edge, Christian, Gene Sniski, Mickie James and others on the top of their game.

Even American Idol and Miss America only have one winner.

We can act, dance, perform or wrestle for the love of the game, but should understand making it to the top is really a tough road to go. In professional wrestling making it to the top is achievable but only by demonstrating that you can be of value to the company you would like to work for.

Strangely enough, professional wrestling at the top of the game is a giving business. It is about what you can do for the company, not what the company will do for you.

Show me someone who can demonstrate that they can draw a buck in wrestling and I will show you someone that can earn a living in the wrestling business.

Many come into professional wrestling hoping to become World Champion. In the words of Jim Ross when he was Head of Talent Relations, "I am not looking for someone who wants to be world champion, Show me someone who wants to be a part of the WWE team and I will be interested."

It is not unusual at times to feel eaten by the system. I would guess most who read this column have felt eaten by the system at one time in their lives but the answer is to pick up the pieces, have faith and go on and fight.

You will find it really is true, "It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, but how you play the game."

Life is beautiful but not easy. Don't Quit.

The events surrounding the demise of the Benoit Family have been a terrible and confusing odyssey for all who are a part of the wrestling business. One of the most beautiful women ever to step into the ring, Nancy Sullivan Benoit also known as Woman, Her son Daniel and Her Husband, Chris Benoit are gone.

Many question that Wrestling business itself may be at fault.

On an early misty cold morning on my Father's Flying Mare Ranch southwest of Amarillo, Texas with shotguns in hand and our limit of wild ducks, I stopped as we crossed the terrace that carried runoff water from his grass pasture to the pond just south of his house.

I said, "Dad, I would like to become a professional wrestler.

He told me two things, Dad said that professional wrestling would be great for my physical health. I could stay athletic, healthy and enjoy sports and a healthy life for a long time.

He also said it would take at least four years to even begin to learn what the wrestling business is about.

When I got my pilot's license, Eddie Graham who was an excellent pilot flew out to Texas in a single engine Cessna 210 just to offer some encouragement and instruction.

Eddie put me in the left seat (Pilot's Seat) and told me to take the aircraft up to altitude for maneuvers. Amarillo's Tradewind Airport is at 3600 feet so for maneuvers we went to 9000 feet.

When we leveled off Eddie had me slow to maneuvering speed, drop the landing gear and extend to full flaps then pull power and release the stick and take my feet off the rudder controls.

With no hands on the controls and no power the Cessna 210 just lazily continued to fly, leaning to the left, then to the right, nose up then down but still flying.

Eddie looked at me and said, "You see, Airplanes don't kill people.

Likewise, professional wrestling doesn't kill people.

Trucks and cars don't kill people and for that matter, you could make a case that drugs don't kill people.

It is the ignorant and unwise decisions and actions of people that kill people.

professional wrestling has been great for my physical health. I have been able to stay athletic, healthy and enjoy sports and a healthy life for a long time.

As a celebration of Independence day, !BANG! TV presents a presentation of the Funking Conservatory Fighting Heart Award to Phillip Evans a veteran of Viet Nam who has received two Purple Heart Awards for service in the United States Marines.

The Funking Conservatory Fighting Heart Award is presented by two former NWA World Champions, Dory Funk Jr. and Jack Brisco after an introduction by Funking Conservatory World Champion, Johnny Magnum.

Phillip is the 7th of sixteen children of the Downing Family of which Johnny Magnum is the youngest of 16. Phillip was injured in combat action on two separate occasions.

Funking Conservatory - Results from Support the Troops 17, Red White Black and Blue

!BANG! TV's Television Taping started 15 minutes early as the Funking Conservatory Arena was packed to capacity with a standing room only crowd of 200 avid wrestling fans.

Special Guest for the !BANG! TV Taping was Jack Brisco. Appearing on the card, Jerry Lynn.

In a three way battle for the Women's Championship, a new Women's Champion was crowned when Miss Vicki (Corner Person Shane Chung) won after first spearing The Claw, Claudia Reiff (Corner Person Jerry Lynn) then catching her own tag team partner, Lady Kimberly (Corner Person Blain Rage) with a spear then covering her for a three count. Lady Kimberly's foot was on the bottom rope however it was pushed off by Miss Vicki's Corner Person, Shane Chung and the Referee awarded Miss Vicki the Funking Conservatory Women's Championship.

The Funking Conservatory Fighting Heart Award was presented to Viet Nam Veteran Phillip ?????? following recognition of two Purple Heart medals from the US Marines by Johnny Magnum and presention of the Funking Conservatory Fighting Heart Award by Jack Brisco.

In a Fatal Four Way for the Florida Heavyweight Championship, Shane Chung (With Miss Vicki) defended against Blain Rage (With Lady Kimberly), Lance Alonte and Johnny Romano. The end of the match came with Blain Rage covering Johnny Romano for a count of three just as Shane Chung clamped the Ankle Lock on Lance Alonte. Alonte Tapped out at virtually the same time as the referee, The Claw counted three on Johnny Romano. The Referee, The Claw called for the !BANG! TV camera video tape replay at ringside to review the end of the match and declared the winner and new Florida Heavyweight Champion to be Blain Rage having secured the pin fall just a fraction of a second before Shane Chung secured the "Tap Out."

In the final match, Elvis Sharp with the Pop Tarts, Lady Kimberly and Miss Vicki and Flyin' Ryan "Air" Mitchell with Sandii Skye became new Funking Conservatory Tag Team Champions winning by disqualification over Johnny Magnum and Jerry Lynn in a match held under TNA rules. (Championships can change hands on a disqualification) Sandii Skye's attempt at a low blow from behind on Jerry Lynn was ill conceived as Jerry Lynn blocked the low blow between his legs and reversed Sandii Skye into a "Bob Backlund" Special Chicken Wing and Half Nelson. The referee, The Claw disqualified Jerry Lynn for unecessary roughness on a non wrestler of the opposite sex giving the Funking Conservatory Tag Team Championship to Flyin' Ryan "Air" Mitchell and Elvis Sharp.

Now on !BANG! TV, in a Funking Conservatory Florida Championship Match, Shane Chung defeated Johnny Magnum for the Funking Conservatory Florida Championship. In Shane Chung's corner was 5' 4, 120 pound Gail Kim. In Johnny Magnum's corner 6' 6" 315 pound Chris Carnage.

In the controversial finish, Gail Kim created havoc, first throwing a chair into the ring, creating a distraction and allowing Shane Chung to take out the 6' 6" Giant Carnage, then she performed her specialty, a flying dropkick from the top rope that cost Johnny Magnum the Florida Heavyweight Championship.

Dory Funk Sr. was truly one of the best wrestlers I've seen in action. Dory Sr. was a perfect example of a dedicated father. He never played favorites. He was always equally dividing the work on his ranch between Dory Jr. and Terry. He was doing this to give them a good healthy life on a ranch, out of doors, instead of the smoggy city.

Both of Dory's sons are champion's in their own right. There was no man happier in the world on February 11, 1969 than Dory Funk Sr., when Dory Jr. won the world championship in Florida. Then, at that moment he know all his wrestling training, all his coaching had paid off. When Dory Jr. won the title, Dory told him that he would have to bring nothing but dignity to the belt, and honor his obligations. He taught Dory Jr. to defend the championship against all leading contenders. He warned him about holding the championship of the world would bring him many rewards, and it would-be rough at times, along with a lot of travel. He told him that he should put out his best whether wrestling in front of a crowd of 12,000 at a huge coliseum, or whether he was wrestling in front of a crowd of six or seven hundred at a high school gymnasium for the belt. Dory Funk Sr. raised two great sons, and had a right to be proud of them.

In a three way match for the European Championship between Elvis Sharp, Kory Chavis, Flyin' Ryan "Air" Mitchell with his Valet Sandii Skye, it is only the beginning when Flyin' Ryan catches the fall and wins the European Championship with the help of Elvis Sharp.

After the match is over, Elvis Sharp takes credit for helping Flyin' Ryan get the victory then takes liberties with Flyin' Ryan's Valet, Sandii Skye.

Two Against One Handicap Match:
Blain Rage defeated Lance Alonte and Johnny Romano at the same time when Blain Rage pinned Romano with a sugar hold while at the same time forcing Lance Alonte to tap out to a naked reverse leg lock.

Three Way Battle - International Championship:
Flyin' Ryan "Air" Mitchell with Sandii Skye won over Kory Chavis with Father James Mitchell and Elvis Sharp with the Pop Tarts when Kory Chavis missed a moonsualt and Flyin' Ryan hit him with a supper kick to the chin and covered for a three count.

Special Introduction:
WWE Executive Pat Patterson by Dory Funk Jr. who calls Pat Patterson one of the best wrestlers ever who started his career in San Francisco wrestling as the Tag Team of Pat Patterson and Ray Stevens. Pat Patterson was the Champion in the Amarillo Territory before going to work first as a wrestler and now an executive for World Wrestling Entertainment.

Tag Team Match:
Johnny Magnum and Chris "The Giant" Carnage won over Blain Rage and Scott D'Amore when Chris "The Giant" Carnage super pressed Blain Rage over his head and dropped him into a Cargo Drop by Johnny Magnum.

Funking Conservatory Fighting Heart Award; Presented by Dory Funk Jr. to Chap Chappell of "Chappell Entertainment" in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Chappell's mother, Margarite and Funking Conservatory wrestler, Duchess Louise Henley were presented flowers in recognition of their birthdays. Special Guest Iake Issenmann, star of the movie "Return to Witch Mountain" and owner of Mighty Mojo Studios was also introduced by Dory Funk Jr.

Florida Championship Match:
Shane Chung won the Florida Championship from Johnny Magnum with corner person Chris "The Giant" Carnage when Shane Chung threw a chair at Johnny Magnum however Magnum ducked the chair and it hit "Giant" Carnage, knocking him to his knees. Shane Chung's Corner Person, Gail Kim threw a flying drop kick from the top rope to the chin of Johnny Magnum, then Shane Chung followed with a body press wining the Florida Championship.

Women's Four Way Championship Match:
Gail Kim launched the "Pop Tarts", Lady Kimberly and Miss Vicki, to the floor then pounded on The "Claw" Claudia Reiff. Lady Kimberly and Miss Vicki grabbed the flowers from Margarite Chappell and Duchess Louise Henley then returned to the ring apron and blasted Gail Kim in the face with the flowers. The "Claw" was behind Gail Kim and followed with a rolling cradle for the three count to remain Women's Champion.

Following the Women's Championship Match Gail Kim and the Pop Tarts kicked and spit on The "Claw" along with the Pop Tart's corner person Father James Mitchell and Blain Rage. This encounter emptied the dressing rooms and a battle royal ensued resulting in Dory Funk Jr. Blasting Father James Mitchell and Scott D'Amore with his patented forearm uppercut.

Tonight, Sunday May 27th on !BANG! TV at Support the Troops 16, Ultimate Struggle in Ocala, Florida there will be a gathering of stars.

The Funking Conservatory's Introduction of 6' 8" 315 pound, Chris "The Giant" Carnage.

Dory Funk Jr., Johnny Magnum, Gail Kim, Scott D'Amore, Father James Mitchell, Shane Chung, Blain Rage, Flyin' Ryan "Air" Mitchell with Sandii Skye, The Pop Tarts, Miss Vicki and Lady Kimberly, "The Claw," Claudia Reiff, England's Duchess Louise Henley, Elvis Sharp, The Soul Assassin, Kory Chavis, Johnny Romano and Lance Alonte, 18 wrestlers in all.

Special Guest of the Funking Conservatory and star of the Movie, Escape to Witch Mountain, Iake Eisenmann will be there with his wife Alex and the Co-Writer of the Dory Funk Biography John Gallacher all from Mighty Mojo Studios of Orlando, Florida.

There will be a presentation of the Fighting Heart Award to Mr. Chap Chappell of Chappell Entertainment.
