NOTES ABOUT UPCOMING SHIMMER DVD RELEASES
----------------------------------------------------------

It's a busy time for SHIMMER as far as our DVD production goes. We are one week away from the release of Volume 9 at www.rohwrestling.com. The Volume 9 DVD features Amazing Kong vs. MsChif, as well as Cheerleader Melissa vs. Sara Del Rey, and will be included in next week's ROH merchandise update.

Volume 10 is currently in production, and should be released just a few weeks after Volume 9 hits. In two weeks, we head to Florida to begin working on Volume 11, which will be a two disc release featuring 20 matches in all, including the entire SHIMMER Title Tournament plus non-tournament bouts as well!

On the retail side of things, Volume 4 hits retail on August 7th. It is already available for pre-order online via Amazon.com and various other assorted retailers. Some of you have noticed that the more recent SHIMMER titles in retail have not been shelved at the actual Best Buy store locations. The situation with Best Buy is that they're scaling back in general on the number of DVD titles that they are shelving (you'll notice that a significantly fewer number of pro wrestling DVDs are being shelved at their stores lately), and unfortunately we're included in their cutbacks.

Best Buy is still carrying all of our retail releases on their web site to order online, so they're still working with us in that respect. There's a chance we could wind up on Best Buy shelves again, but I'm not counting on it. I'm just glad that we got the level of national distribution we did for Volume 1 on Best Buy shelves while we could.

All of the other various retailers that have carried (and shelved) the earlier SHIMMER releases will also be carrying Volume 4. If you've seen the earlier titles on shelves at local retailers, future DVD titles from us will be able to be found there as well.

We're currently preparing the Volume 5 footage for its retail release in the fall. As most of you know, we slightly revise the edit of each title for retail, mainly to eliminate the entrance music that is present on the initial run of each release. I know many of you have disliked the royalty free music that has been placed over the entrances on our early retail releases. As a result, we've made the decision, beginning with Volume 5, to simply start each match with ring announcer Joey Eastman introducing the participants, eliminating entrances entirely. That's one of the benefits of using the "boxing style" introductions in SHIMMER, where the ring announcer doesn't announce who the wrestlers are until both of them have completed their entrance and the music has ceased playing.

We are also adding a new photo gallery feature to the retail versions of our DVDs as well. It's something extra that we can easily add, since we have so many excellent photos to work with after each and every taping.

Again, for those of you who prefer to have copies of the initial run of each release for your collection (with the original entrances intact), we strongly encourage you to pick up each new release as it becomes available through Ring of Honor. Once we sell out of the initial run of each title, we won't be re-issuing it again in that original form. For example, ROH is now selling the retail versions of Vols. 1 through 3 because we've run through the stock of the initial run of those three releases. There's a limited number of copies of the initial run of Vols. 4 through 6 left, so act quickly if you want to have the original version of those releases on your shelf. I expect ROH to switch over to selling the retail version of Vol. 4 within the next two months or so once the stock has run out.

INVERNESS, FL EVENT EARNS VOLUME 13 STATUS!
----------------------------------------------------------

Tthough initially we had made the decision to not include the 7/1 Inverness, FL show as part of the Volume number DVD series (the plan was to keep it as a separate release, with simply the "Hot Summer Nights" title, as an accompaniment to the Volumes we film in Berwyn, IL), we've reconsidered.

The Inverness show turned out so well live, and translates so very well to tape that it would honestly be a huge mistake to allow this event to potentially go unnoticed or get lost in the shuffle in the long run by not recognizing it as "Volume 13."

The show featured the first ever SHIMMER Title defense, which also wound up being the most lengthy match in company history. It also featured the big Volume 5 rematch between Amazing Kong and Nikki Roxx, as well as the continuation of the Allison Danger/Cindy Rogers feud, and the first SHIMMER meeting between Daizee Haze and MsChif. Thus, this show is very significant in our DVD sequence, and deserves to be considered "Volume 13," rather than just an accompaniment DVD to the rest of the series. Volume 13 it is!

Announcing: combat-hooligans.com

You may have noticed my lack of posting lately. It is because I've been working on a new project. The project is not yet complete, but it is to the point where I am ready to announce it.

www.combat-hooligans.com the site is a mess and is still under construction but feel free to take a peak at what a mess looks like.

So, the question now becomes why did we do this?

You'll have to click the cut for that answer and a few more.



The reason for the change is quite simple. It is for the purposes of branding ourselves as something. The Old Country Times or Old Country Corner was sort of my project and Euan and Art came aboard. So it was sort of built in my image although really it didn't have an image of its own. Add to that the fact that at a glance it is so vague that you don't really know what it is all about.

Sure, I came up with the name Combat Hooligans but unless they're lying to me, both Art and Euan have given it their approval.

It is a chance for a new start, a fresh start and a redefining of ourselves.

What can you expect on Combat-hooligans.com?

One thing you can expect is more interactivity including an on-site bulleton board which doesn't need registration, as well as the ability to vote in polls. You are also going to get some new featured columns and generally you're going to get more of our take on things, not just the news itself.

We intend to offer more audio content on Combat-Hooligans.com and will work on that as time passes. I should note, that this also includes interviews with names in the wrestling and MMA industry which as of now we've not offered.

So what becomes of the Old Country Times?

When the new site is ready to launch I am going to point this site towards it. You'll be able to see this blog as an archive but it will not be updated, all of the updates will be on the main Combat-Hooligans.com page.

So when will this change go into effect?

It all depends on when Euan Art and I think that the site is cleaned up and ready to go. My personal target deadline is 08/13 which would mark the 1-year anniversary of my personal blogging life, and I can't think of a better time to launch a new venture.

Thanks to the support of a very loyal DOI reader & generous wrestling fan, the WSU 7/14 All-Girls show is on! Several changes had to be made due to the last second business deal, because as reported before, WSU owner Jac Sabboth backed out of the show. This show is being ran in the interest of promoting womens wrestling! In this spirit, this special night of womens wrestling is FREE OF CHARGE to all fans. However, we will be accepting donations from any fans who choose to support womens wrestling the day of the show! Donations will be optional but will help keep womens wrestling strong in this area.

WSU has already announced that we will be crowning the first ever womens champion on 7/14. Another major announcement is that WSU will be holding two DVD tapings, with FREE ADMISSION. See some of the up and comers on the womens wrestling scene mixed in with the legends of womens wrestling! The WSU womens division has heated up since its launch in March of 2007. Many wrestlers in WSU claim to be the best. On 7/14, this Saturday, we will find out who the best womens wrestler in WSU is, as WSU will crown its first Womens Champion.

To crown the first ever champion, there will be four qualifying matches. The winners of the four qualifying matches will move on to a Fatal Four Way, One Fall To a Finish Match, where WSU will crown the first champion.

And here's what happened last time, in a WSU Press Release issued in June:

The four qualifying matches are full of emotion. Alicia & Becky Bayless had a bloody match on the 3/3 show. While Alicia won that match, Becky Bayless sent Luna Vachon to take Alicia out on 5/5. Alicia was able to get by Luna but left seriously bruised and battered. Now on 7/14, Becky Bayless, after missing the 5/5 show for intense training will return to the squared circle to get her revenge on the self-proclaimed queen of Jersey, Alicia.

Things have been hot and fiery between Alere Little Feather & Amy Lee. On 3/3, Amy Lee cut a profanity laced obscene promo, questioning the girls in WSU. The 18 year veteran than took it upon herself to wipe out the Diva Killaz single handedly. Alere Little Feather took offense and tried taking on Amy Lee, only to find out that this wasn't going to be David vs Goliath. After being suspended due to her actions and f-bomb tirades, Amy Lee returns to WSU and Alere looks forward to the challenge. On 5/5, Alere defeated the larger Della'Morte in a match to prepare vs Amy Lee. Now, on 7/14 there is much more on the line than their personal issues, as the winner will move on to the match to crown the first ever WSU Womens Champion!

Alexa Thatcher vs Nikki Roxx is a special attraction match WSU is putting on. Both have expressed their interest in WSU and would like nothing better than to walk away with the WSU Womens title. Alexa Thatcher, coming off a win by beating Mia Love on 5/5 looks to make it two straight against WSU newcomer Nikki Roxx. Roxx may be new to WSU, but she's certainly not new to the ring. Both competitors are pysched for the match and with a chance to become WSU Womens Champion, the stakes have beeen considerably raised.

Luna Vachon will be in the house on 7/14. Coming off a loss to Alicia on 5/5, Luna looks to add more gold to her resume, in the shape of the WSU Womens title. Luna has put out an open challenge on 7/14. Many girls on the WSU roster want nothing to do with Luna after the way Luna destroyed Alicia on 5/5, but with an open contract and the chance to become the first ever WSU Womens champion, you can expect someone big to answer the challenge. Luna welcomes all comers. However, one must wonder what's going to happen with both Luna and Alicia in the same building as Luna has vowed her revenge on Alicia.

The Diva Killaz will also take on the Soul Sisters on 7/14. Kayla Sparks & Miss Deville, the Diva Killaz, have not been on the same page in WSU. On 3/3, both took each other on in a special challenge match and seemed to be fine. However, as backstage DVD footage showed us, The First Lady of Wrestling, Missy Hyatt, stirred the pot between them. Trouble has been brewing for the Diva Killaz and it seems it's only a a matter of time before something seriously bad happens. However, The Diva Killaz have assured WSU management that everything is "peachy keen" and look forward to the Soul Sisters, Jana & Latasha's challenge on 7/14. The Soul Sisters were victorious on 5/5 against the Diva Killaz and The Diva Killaz look to even the score while the Soul Sisters look to repeat history.

Also in the house that night will be the sultry Jasmin St. Claire & The First Lady of Wrestling Missy Hyatt. What will happen when these two cross paths?

All this and much much more will take place on 7/14. There are 8 people looking to win the prestigious WSU Womens title. WSU has been in negotiations with other indy promotions that despite whomever wins the WSU title, that the WSU Womens champion can defend the championship at any indy event. That means after 7/14, the WSU Womens title could potentially change hands at another indy event in any part of the world! However, that is looking too far ahead as all roads lead to 7/14! Bodog Fight: Living in "Paradise"

Living in "Paradise"

Her parents would prefer that she didn't beat people up for a living, but Tara LaRosa is quite happy doing what she loves.

"They really wish that I worked in a bank or something," laughs the women's top-ranked 135-pound mixed martial arts athlete. "But they know fighting is what I love to do, that I get paid to do it, and that I'm pretty damn good at it."

On July 14th, her family will see first hand just how good their daughter has become when LaRosa (12-1) takes on Kelly Kobold (16-0-1) for the vacant Bodog Fight women's 135-pound championship belt in Trenton, New Jersey.

"I grew up nearby," says LaRosa, who hails from the small farming community of Woodstown in Salem County, New Jersey. "So this fight is in my back yard, and all my friends and family will be there. So I can't think of a better storyline than to have them cheering for me as I try to win the women's title. It's going to be awesome."

LaRosa's combative nature was not evident during her youth, as she attended the now defunct St. James Catholic High School.

"I wasn't tough at all back then," she claims. "In fact, I couldn't pick a fight to save my life. Actually, I was known more for being the peacekeeper when a fight did break out."

It wasn't until 1996 when a love of action films featuring Jean Claude van Damme and Chuck Norris inspired her to enroll in Judo. Winning several competitions, LaRosa soon moved to MMA, studying with the legendary Royce Gracie. During this time, she often crossed paths with Laura D'Auguste, who was originally slated to fight LaRosa before tearing ankle ligaments during training.

"Laura and I both came up through the North American Grappling Association," recalls LaRosa. "We've come very close to fighting several times before, but for whatever reason we could never hook it up. So, I was really excited to finally fight her, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be."

Instead, LaRosa will face the hard-hitting Kobold, who has knock out power and excellent submissions.

Surprisingly, LaRosa thinks she is an underdog against Kobold.

"People will expect me to win, but this is not an easy fight for me. Kelly's more of a brawler, unlike Laura who is more technical. So, I'm going to have to change my game plan 180 degrees."

But LaRosa understands untimely injuries are unavoidable in this sport, and is ready to readjust her focus in order to face her new challenger.

"You just take it as it comes. It's a five round title fight with an opponent who is much heavier and stronger, but I'm up for it. I can adapt."

Interview with Eddie Alvarez
Bodog's Former Welterweight Champ Wants His Belt Back

Philadelphia has long been a fertile breeding ground for some of the world's best fighters, both real and fictional - boxers like "Smokin" Joe Frazier and Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins, not to mention Sly Stallone's Rocky Balboa.

These days, the "City of Brotherly Love" is home to some of America's toughest mixed martial arts fighters, like Eddie Alvarez.

With movie-star looks and lightning fast hooks, the 23-year-old product of Philadelphia's Fight Factory is one of the most marketable young fighters on the MMA scene.

"I think I was born to fight," says Alvarez. "I grew up in Kensington, which is a working class neighborhood in Philly known for fighting, so it's been around me my whole life." A two-time All-American wrestler in high school, Alvarez wrestled with life after graduation.

"Trouble seemed to find me, and I wound up getting into fights on the street, so I decided to take it a little more seriously and really learn how to fight. I went to a class at Steven Haigh's Fight Factory and got hooked on MMA."

Alvarez began his pro career in December, 2003 with a first round KO over Anthony Ladonna in Ring of Combat 5 in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

"I'd fought on the street so many times I was very composed in the ring," he recalls. "I just felt comfortable, like I was in there doing what I was supposed to be doing."

Alvarez continued to vanquish his opponents with devastating punching power, amassing a record of 6-0 with five KO's, before finding himself in Atlantic City for a Mixed Fighting Championship event in June, 2006.

With Pride heavyweight champ Fedor Emelianenko looking on, Alvarez faced off against veteran fighter Derrick Noble for the MFC welterweight title belt.

"I had about seven hundred fans that came to see me fight," remembers Alvarez. "I didn't want to disappoint them, so I came out swinging."

The fight lasted exactly 61 seconds, with Alvarez pummeling Noble into his corner to earn the title by knockout.

"Being able to knockout a guy who had only been knocked out once in 25 fights made people sit up and really take notice," says Alvarez.

He would go on to defend his title in Tokyo, Japan, where he knocked out Hidenobu Koike a minute and a half into the 1st round.

Alvarez then challenged the iron-jawed Aaron Riley in December of `06 for the vacant Bodog Fight Welterweight Title at Bodog Fight: USA vs. Russia in Vancouver, Canada. Riley lasted 65 seconds before succumbing to the powerful strikes of Alvarez, who despite his impressive knockout record and chiseled physique, says he doesn't focus much on strength training.

"I believe in speed more than anything, which is why I drifted away from my weight lifting at the beginning of my fight career and began thinking about speed more than strength. With four-once gloves, in MMA it's not who hits the hardest. It's who gets there first that usually wins."

Alvarez landed early and often against his next opponent, Scott Henze, whose corner mercifully threw in the towel at 3:56 of round one at Bodog Fight: Costa Rica Combat.

With the Philly brawler improving his record to 10-0, Alvarez traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia for Bodog Fight: Clash of the Nations, where he was matched up against Nick "The Goat" Thompson - whose nickname refers to an animal notorious for losing consciousness when frightened.

Easy pickings for the undefeated Alvarez, right? Not quite.

Using his reach advantage to keep Alvarez at bay, the larger Thompson floored the champ with a left hand late in the second round to become Bodog Fight's new welterweight champion.

Now, the former undefeated champ wants his title back.

Fortunately for the Philly fighter, the road back starts in his own back yard, with Bodog Fight: Eddie Alvarez vs. Matt Lee set to take place in nearby Trenton, New Jersey on Saturday, July 14th.

With thousands of his friends and fans in attendance, Alvarez plans to prove the heart of a champion doesn't stop beating without a belt. He's also got a score to settle with Boston's Matt Lee (9-5-1).

"He won a decision over my trainer (Stephen Haigh) last year," says Alvarez. "So, on behalf of the Fight Factory, I'm gonna pay him back."

In addition to the headline fight between Alvarez and Lee, the event card also features two championship bouts - a middleweight title fight between Trevor Prangley and Yuki Kondo, and a women's 135-pound championship bout between New Jersey's Tara LaRosa and New York's Laura D'Auguste.

On July 21, CHIKARA shakes the PA-dust from its sandals and heads north - to Wallingford, Connecticut. The card is already filling up with incredible matches, but the recent suspension of Mitch Ryder and a conflicting Japanese tour for El Pantera have forced us to change our card more times than we'd care to admit.
One new matched confirmed this morning will bring CHIKARA into the NWA spotlight. Currently, the NWA is in the process of crowning a new World Heavyweight champion. As luck would have it, two of the quarter-finalists in the NWA title tournament happen to be participating in our July 21 Wallingford card, and thanks to both Director of Fun Leonard F. Chikarason and NWA Executive Director Bob Trobich, we're proud to announce that for the first time ever, Claudio Castagnoli will face Sicodelico, Jr., and the match has been sanctioned as a quarter-final bout in the ongoing NWA title tourney! Everyone here at CHIKARA is proud to know we'll be playing a small part in this historic title tournament!
That isn't the only news we got from the NWA office, however. In the month of May, as some of you already know, our own Mike Quackenbush captured the NWA World Junior Heavyweight title from Tiger Mask IV at Fight Sports Midwest. Since then, the NWA has been trying to line up title defenses for the Quackster, with mixed results. A supposed title bout opposite Ultimo Dragon, which would have taken place in Japan just this past weekend, fell apart at the last minute. The NWA is resolute that Quack must defend the title in the coming weeks per their championship guidelines. In response to this Mike Quackenbush had this to say: "I know the NWA has been in talks with a laundry list of international stars trying to put together a title bout for the World Junior title. I want to be clear about this - I am hiding from no one. Name anyone you want the number one contender, anyone at all, and send them to Philly on August 5. I'll meet them in the middle of the ring at 'Maximum Overdraft.'"

Global Fighting Championships is the latest entry in the increasingly popular sport of Mixed Martial Arts competitions. The bouts at Mohegan Sun promise to raise the bar for action and excitement with four main events, and several fighters on the undercard. A heavyweight championship match features long-time foes Jeff “The Snowman” Monson and Wes “The Project” Sims in a face-off that fans have been eagerly awaiting. It’s going to be a tight match for the middleweight belt between Edwin “Babyface” Dewees and Mavrick “The Soul Collector” Harvey. The night also pits two of the sport’s biggest competitors -- Butterbean (5’11”, 350 lbs.) and Stefan Gamlin (6’7”, 360 lbs.) – against each other. The fourth main event is a battle featuring UFC champ Mark Kerr (a.k.a. The Titan) against former pro wrestler Sean O’Haire (a.k.a. Nightmare O’Haire). WSU Womens Division To Crown First Ever Champion!


Saturday, July 14th will be a historic day for WSU, as WSU crowns the first ever WSU Womens Champion! Due to all the heated action in WSU, matches will be taking place as scheduled, but there will be a catch- every singles match winner will be placed in the first ever Womens Suicidal Six-Way Match, with the first wrestler to score a pinfall or submission becoming the first ever WSU Womens Champion!

Here are the six qualifying matches, with the six winners wrestling in the main event of the show for the WSU Womens Championship!

Alicia vs Becky Bayless II

Daffney vs Nikki Roxx

Also taking place on the show is a special tag team match with The Diva Killaz vs The Soul Sisters!


The six qualifying matches are full of emotion. Alicia & Becky Bayless had a bloody match on the 3/3 show. While Alicia won that match, Becky Bayless sent Luna Vachon to take Alicia out on 5/5. Alicia was able to get by Luna but left seriously bruised and battered. Now on 7/14, Becky Bayless, after missing the 5/5 show for intense training will return to the squared circle to get her revenge on the self-proclaimed queen of Jersey, Alicia.

Things have been hot and fiery between Alere Little Feather & Amy Lee. On 3/3, Amy Lee cut a profanity laced obscene promo, questioning the girls in WSU. The 18 year veteran than took it upon herself to wipe out the Diva Killaz single handedly. Alere Little Feather took offense and tried taking on Amy Lee, only to find out that this wasn't going to be David vs Goliath. After being suspended due to her actions and f-bomb tirades, Amy Lee returns to WSU and Alere looks forward to the challenge. On 5/5, Alere defeated the larger Della'Morte in a match to prepare vs Amy Lee. Now, on 7/14
there is much more on the line than their personal issues, as the winner will move on to the match to crown the first ever WSU Womens Champion!

Daffney vs Nikki Roxx is a special attraction match WSU is putting on. Both have expressed their interest in WSU and would like nothing better than to walk away with the WSU Womens title. Daffney, who is coming off a loss to Talia on 3/3 looks to get on the winning track on 7/14 as she battles newcomer Nikki Roxx. Both competitors are pysched for the match and with a chance to become WSU Womens Champion, the stakes have beeen considerably raised.


Luna Vachon will be in the house on 7/14. Coming off a loss to Alicia on 5/5, Luna looks to add more gold to her resume, in the shape of the WSU Womens title. Luna has put out an open challenge on 7/14. Many girls on the WSU roster want nothing to do with Luna after the way Luna destroyed Alicia on 5/5, but with an open contract and the chance to become the first ever WSU Womens champion, you can expect someone big to answer the challenge. Luna welcomes all comers. However, one must wonder what's going to happen with both Luna and Alicia in the same building as Luna has vowed her revenge on Alicia.

Two other qualifying matches take place on 7/14. Both Amber, Mia Love, Alexa Thatcher & Barbie have the chance to become WSU Womens Champion. All four realize they are the underdogs on this show and look to make a huge upset on 7/14. It wouldn't be the first time for Alexa Thatcher, who won the NWS Womens J-Cup last year. Amber is coming off a recent loss to Alicia, which took place on 6/23. Amber held her own and despite losing, has built up alot of confidence. Barbie & Mia Love, who are no strangers to WSU look to make their mark and will look out to upset everyone and win WSU Womens gold!



The Diva Killaz will also take on the Soul Sisters on 7/14. Kayla Sparks & Miss Deville, the Diva Killaz, have not been on the same page in WSU. On 3/3, both took each other on in a special challenge match and seemed to be fine. However, as backstage DVD footage showed us, The First Lady of Wrestling, Missy Hyatt, stirred the pot between them. Trouble has been brewing for the Diva Killaz and it seems it's only a a matter of time before something seriously bad happens. However, The Diva Killaz have assured WSU management that everything is "peachy keen" and look forward to the Soul Sisters, Jana & Latasha's challenge on 7/14. The Soul Sisters were victorious on 5/5 against the Diva Killaz and The Diva Killaz look to even the score while the Soul Sisters look to repeat history.


All this and much much more will take place on 7/14. There are 12 people looking to win the prestigious WSU Womens title. WSU has been in negotiations with other indy promotions that despite whomever wins the WSU title, that the WSU Womens champion can defend the championship at any indy event. That means after 7/14, the WSU Womens title could potentially change hands at another indy event in any part of the world! However, that is looking too far ahead as all roads lead to 7/14! Bodog Fight's Puder Found in Paradise Lost

There's always a healthy degree of skepticism when it comes to cross-over athletes. A few have enjoyed success, like Bo Jackson, Deion Sanders and Dennis Rodman (or was he a cross-dressing success?), but remember when Michael Jordan tried his hand at baseball? Yikes.

The world of mixed martial arts is no stranger to two-sport athletes, although the best examples have all left behind their former sports to pursue a full-time career in MMA. Boxers like Tommy Morrison and Ray Mercer, Olympic wrestlers like Bodog Fight's own Matt Lindland, and pro wrestlers like Brock Lesnar and Daniel Puder.


Daniel Puder
The 25-year-old Puder won World Wrestling Entertainment's first "Tough Enough Challenge" in 2004, but he drew the ire of Vince McMahon by straying from the promoter's plan to have the popular Kurt Angle punish him during a WWE event. Instead, Puder humiliated Angle in front of a live audience by trapping the former Olympic Gold Medal wrestler in a "key lock". Angle has vowed revenge ever since.

If he wants his reprisal, Angle will have to follow Puder to MMA, but it won't be easy. Puder is undefeated in four fights heading into his heavyweight bout with Michael Alden on the next episode of Bodog Fight: Paradise Lost this Tuesday, July 3rd at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central on ION television and in Canada on The Fight Network.

The 23-year-old Alden is also undefeated at 6-0, and is expected to provide Puder with his toughest test to date. But Puder says his wrestling pedigree has prepared him well for the rigors of MMA.

"I think that pro-wrestling toughens you up," he says. "You're falling more, you're being dropped more and you can get hurt a lot quicker. I've been flash KO'd a few times and I had to keep going in the match."

But according to Bodog Fight founder Calvin Ayre, cross-over MMA athletes like Puder are the exception rather than the rule.

"MMA is such a multi-dimentional sport that most cross-over athletes find the transition difficult, so bringing them into an organization like Bodog Fight requires a different approach," says Ayre. "You have to assess their progress carefully. Matching them up with appropriate opponents can sometimes be difficult."

If Angle does eventually make the jump to MMA, Ayre would have no problem finding him an opponent.

"Puder would be the obvious choice, but Kurt would probably want to get a few fights under his belt first," says Ayre. "But as a fan, I'd love to see that fight."

The "Hot Summer Nights" tour begins tonight, Friday, June 29th, in Melbourne, FL! SHIMMER stars Daizee Haze, Sara Del Rey, Lacey, and Allison Danger will be a part of the Melbourne event tonight. This event is part of the "Hot Summer Nights" tour promoted by SHIMMER and Full Impact Pro, featuring three consecutive nights of wrestling from Friday, 6/29 through Sunday, 7/1.

SHIMMER - WOMEN ATHLETES presents its first live event in the state of Florida this Sunday, July 1st, 2007, at the Citrus County Auditorium, located at 3610 S. Florida Ave (Highway 41) in Inverness, FL. Bell time is 6pm. Doors will open at 5pm.
Tickets for the 7/1 SHIMMER event are just $10 for adults, and $5 for kids 13 and under. Tickets will be available at the door on the day of the event or at the ticket table at Friday or Saturday's FIP events. The SHIMMER show is suitable for all ages!

EXAMINING THIS SUNDAY'S CARD
Sara Del Rey was able to overcome the interference of Rain and everything that Lacey threw at her earlier this month in Berwyn to become the first ever SHIMMER Champion. Lacey is out to keep Sara's title reign limited to one month, and has the opportunity to even the score in Inverness, with the belt on the line.
The Amazing Kong vs. Nikki Roxx bout from Volume 5 became one of the most talked about matches on the SHIMMER DVD series due to the brutal style of Kong mixed with the tremendous heart and determination of Roxx. After the match against Kong, Nikki became more determined than ever, and began a winning streak in SHIMMER competition, working her way up to the main event level in SHIMMER. Does Nikki now have what it takes to overcome the sheer size and power of the undefeated Amazing Kong? We will find out this Sunday at "Hot Summer Nights!"
Cindy Rogers felt under appreciated by the SHIMMER fans, and stated on Volume 8 that she has to do whatever it takes to climb to the top of the roster and "get noticed." Allison Danger tried to steer Cindy on the right path as her tag team partner on Volume 9, only for Cindy to turn on her and walk out on the match.
This led to a series of wild brawls between the two, including a grudge match on Volume 10, a street fight on Volume 11, and a Dog Collar Chain Match on Volume 12. Danger demanded the Dog Collar stipulation after Cindy attacked her with a chain following the street fight, and Cindy was able to come up the winner of the match, despite being out of her element in a hardcore style contest.
Danger requested another match against Rogers for "Hot Summer Nights" to avenge her loss in the Dog Collar Match, but Cindy would only agree to it if she had the option of picking the stipulation. Danger agreed, and Cindy selected a Two out of Three Falls match for Inverness.
Rogers has stated that all she needs in order to prove that she is better than Allison Danger is her technical wrestling ability, and feels that a Two out of Three Falls scientific wrestling match is the perfect way to prove it. "I don't need weapons or chains to beat her again. I'll do it with my skill, and show everyone yet again why The Definition of Techician deserves to be at the top of the card."
As many of you know, Tiana Ringer had to miss the SHIMMER Title Tournament events on 6/1 & 6/2 due to a death in the family. Tiana informed us this past Saturday afternoon that she has made the decision to take some time off from professional wrestling, to focus more on personal matters for the time being. She will unfortunately not be a part of next weekend's FIP events and the SHIMMER show in Florida as a result. All of us at SHIMMER wish Tiana the very best, and there is always an open door for her here at SHIMMER whenever she decides that she is ready to get back into action.
With Tiana removed from the card, that freed up a spot on Sunday's show. Trying to make the most of this opportunity, Daffney has stepped up to the plate to fill the void, and will make her first appearance as a wrestler in SHIMMER on July 1st in Inverness! On the heels of The Experience suffering their first tag team loss to Daffney's duo of Cheerleader Melissa & MsChif earlier this month in Berwyn, Lexie Fyfe has requested to be Daffney's first opponent in SHIMMER competition.
Also just signed for Sunday's event is a first time SHIMMER meeting between two women who broke into pro wrestling in the same region of the country, and who have both grown tremendously as wrestlers in the time since, as both allies and enemies along the way. MsChif will face Daizee Haze one on one at "Hot Summer Nights" next Sunday!
