EliteXC Debut lacked big-league punch

So says Steve Sievert in his Houston Chronicle MMA blog who was there live.

I've got some thoughts...



I guess my biggest thought is now you can understand the difference between being at a show live and watching it on TV. I didn't think it was the biggest of big time shows I've ever seen but I thought the initial show was a nice debut and it gave me pause to think that this might be the best threat to UFC on North American soil.

In fact, there were elements that I found better in EXC than UFC. It isn't the most standout thing but the ring announcer was lightyears ahead of Bruce Buffer.

I also thought the announce team was very good on this night.

The one question Sievert asked that I'd love an answer to is where the hell was Slater?

CARE - Other Vuz, Vuz, Vuz Jabronis Preview: EXC 'Destiny'

A couple of notes and the stats are found behind the cut.



If you read this you'll notice that Seth Kleinbeck is out of the fight with Riki Fukuda and Chris Gates is in. Whereas, Wade and Scott were the only ones to pick Kleinbeck to win they will be given Gates instead. Really, its the only way I know how to do things fairly right now.


On to the stats.

This being the first EXC show nobody has any points in this category.

Marcus: 4 events, 19 wins, 11 losses for 63.33%
Ric: 5 events, 23 wins, 14 losses for 62.16%
Scott: 4 events, 17 wins, 13 losses for 56.66%
Casey: 5 Events, 19 wins, 18 losses for 51.3%
Art: 5 events, 17 wins, 19 losses for 47.22%
Euan: 5 events, 17 wins, 19 losses for 47.22%

Should be a fun night. Well, unless you're me and have to cover the show and then write up the predictions table, as well as finish the TNA roundtable for tomorrow, and oh yes, I'm also reviewing Against All Odds 05 and 06 and hope to have both of those up before tomorrow night's show. Long story short, it sucks to be me.
