Now we get the good stuff

The link will take you to JHM's Y4 collumn where he has some good stuff.

He's got info and images from the Walt Disney Feature Animation projects that follow Meet the Robinsons.

  1. American Dog
  2. Rapunzel Unbraded

and news on a certain film, the kids on the street like to call Toy Story 3.

I've got some comments.

American Dog sounds interesting. I mean the good kind of interesting. It is under the Direction of Chris Sanders who brought us one of my personal favorite Disney films, Lilo and Stitch.

Rapunzel Unbraded is another story. I also mean that literally as this film has been in development hell forever. It was originally going to be a Shrek style film with lots of pop culture references and all that fun stuff. Now it has reverted to a classic fairie tale. You know I'm actually fine with this because I don't need Shrek imitations everywhere I turn. Hoodwinked was Shrek life but had a different sort of charm but Disney would've tried to copy Shrek joke for joke.
Don't get me wrong, I love Shrek and can't wait for the third installment but I just don't want to see it from every studio.

As for Toy Story 3, this film has been off and on again so many times you'd think its a light switch. It is officially on and it sounds like this one will conclude the series. I'm glad to see a third one but I am also hopeful that it concludes the series. I think the folks at Pixar would prefer to do new and original movies and not endless sequels. Of course we won't even get into the fact that they're talking Monsters Inc. 2 and to be honest I think the Incredibles is the most sequel friendly film in their library.
I say as I've said before that the series needs to end by answering the question: "What happens to Andy's toys when he grows up?"

Some good stuff appears to be headed out of the Mouse.

The Toy Story 3 I'd like to see.

So "W.A.L. -E" is supposed to be the Pixar release in 2008. This means that the eventual Toy Story 3 release isn't likely until 2009.

I've been thinking a lot about Toy Story 3.

Toy Story 3 is one of those films that has been off then on then off again so many times that it is beginning to resemble a light switch. I remember reading about potential plots for the film at Jim Hill Media even before Finding Nemo swam in to theaters in 2003.

But, the film is definitely going to happen and with the Pixar braintrust at the helm.

So, what about the plot? The plot for the Disney version that was being worked on earlier this year would see the Buzz Lightyear toy being recalled and the Toys having to travel overseas to get Buzz back. This, thankfully has been scrapped.

Her is a plot I heard about years ago, possibly even on JHM and I think its a winner. The plot of Toy Story 3 should really be centered around 1 key question. What happens when Andy grows up? I think that they should definitely go that route with Toy Story 3. It is the logical progression of the story and is a heavy enough plot that the Pixar team could really throw themselves into it.

Hopefully, if not with Toy Story 3, then with a future TS film they deal with that question.
