Karl Stern Combat Sports Radio Announcement

I'll be posting the first half hour show for
Figure Four Wrestling
online around July 1st followed shortly by a longer show at our web site. I'm also in the process of re-writing and adding a bunch of MMA stuff to the wrestling
time lines book which I'll have for sale at our site by the first of August. I'll have pricing information and such available next month.

Our new show will be a lot different from our old shows as I'll be taking a more news oriented approach to things this time. The podcast community is already
covered up with people giving their opinion on what's happening. Since our show will be hosted at F4W it wouldn't make sense for me to do another show
that is a lot like the Bryan and Vinny show or Dr. Keith, instead I want to do a shorter more news oriented show for that site then on our longer show
at
KarlStern.com
I will talk more about our opinions on what's going on plus a lot more MMA and things in the combat sports realm (including fitness, some boxing, even martial
arts related movies and traditional martial arts).

I want to thank my friends and co-hosts Big Daddy Will, Rodney the Grasshopper, and Ric Gillespie for their encouragement over the last year and honestly
their interest in a new project is what inspired me to finally do something again. For those who will listen to the 30 minute shows at F4W you can expect
mainly pro wrestling with very little MMA and a lot of wrestling history stuff, then if you listen to our shows at KarlStern.com you can expect more MMA,
martial arts, and general talk. Between the two shows I think most combat sports fans will find something they like.

KarlStern.com will not be a pay site. We will generate income from the sales of our new Time Lines of Combat Sports book, merchandise (go to the store which
should have KarlStern.com merchandise available by mid-July), and advertising. If you are interested in advertising on our shows please contact me at
karl@karlstern.com .
We are especially interested in people advertising indy wrestling shows and MMA events, schools, conventions, seminars, and the such. You'll find our rates
are extremely reasonable and if you're interesting in being a regular sponsor of our shows I'll hook you up with an even better rate then.

Note from Casey: I was very surprised and also very happy to hear of Karl's return.

I love Dave sometimes...

Today's awesome...

--The Las Vegas Sun at www.lasvegassun.com/sunbin/stories/sports/2007/jun/22/566641739.html on Bob Arum copying from UFC. He and Vince McMahon both are
on that kick now. Unlike McMahon, Arum said, Arum said UFC guys "fight like girls." The story is funny as he yelled about the Republicans on the athletic
commission that fined Jose Luis Castillo $250,000 for failing to make weight against Diego Corrales. More on UFC: "I don't think it's competitive from
the standpoint of the actual contest," he said. "They certainly have a better presentation than boxing people do. They have attracted a very young audience,
but look who they appeal to....Look at the UFC fighters. 90-something percent are big white guys from the Midwest." So I woke up this morning and said,
what a beautiful morning it is here in the Midwest. I wish I could go to the beach, but damn, I live in the Midwest. Well, actually I do wish I could go
to the beach, but I've got to write about a show that featured a Vietnamese guy from San Jose, a Mexican guy from San Jose, an Italian guy from New York,
another Mexican guy from San Jose, an African-American son of a pro wrestler, an African-American guy who ate too many donuts from Modesto, a cocky white
guy from Stanford, and some Brazilian guy who everyone runs up to him and thinks it's his brother. Freaking clueless out-of-touch semi-racist boxing promoters.

I need to invent new stars to give to this quote.

Malignaggi defeats N'dou to capture IBF Junior Welterweight title

Apparently, Lovemore N'dou having one of the best names I've ever heard wasn't enough to defeat Paulie Malignaggi on Saturday in Connecticut.

Maybe he should change his name from Lovemore to Fightmore.

Boxing News and Notes for 06/15

Some of these might be older stories, and I'll not post a lot today...but I want to get in to the habbit of posting boxing news, and the best way to do that is to start doing it.

Hector "Macho" Camacho (who when I was much younger I thought was boxing's version of Randy Savage just cause of the name) sentenced to 7 years for burglary of course he could never see the inside of a jail cell.

When boxer Diego Corrales crashed his motorcycle and died awhile back he was really, really, really drunk Showtime paid tribute to him on last Saturday's card.

Armando Garcia of the CSAC has been busy lately It seems that both James Tony and his May 24 opponent Danny Batchelder tested positive for steroids after their fight. You don't often see fights where both men fail. These guys must've been hanging out with Royce Gracie and Johnnie Morton.

There is a fight that intrigues me because of the names involved. Paulie Malignaggi Vs. Lovemore N'dou. Lovemore N'dou may be the greatest name since God Shamgod. Hey, I'm not really up on all of what's going on in boxing right now, and with the weight classes being organized beyond all comprehension and the fact there are a jillion titles...the kind of analysis you're going to get from me for awhile is that Lovemore N'dou is a great name.

So many jokes to make about this story that I just don't know where to start.

How about throwing this quote at you.

"Thanks for those who supported a convict like me," Siriporn said at a press conference after her release. "Some may not agree but I don't care. I am happy
that there are people willing to support me. I like to thank all the officials as well."

and that's not even the funniest thing you'll read.

I can't top that story today and I may never be able to do so which worries me since my boxing coverage is in its earliest stages.

Showtime Championship Boxing Results

I'm going to link to these for a couple of reasons. The first is the fact that I've been wanting to add Boxing to the coverage here at the Times for awhile and even though its not really my sport, if I want it to happen I should take the lead.

I'm also linking this because I watched these 2 bouts tonight and they were both pretty entertaining.

Antonio Tarver decisions Elmir Muriqi, Chad Dawson stops Jesus Ruez in 6th
Tarver regained his IBO Light Heavyweight Championship after a year long layoff after losing to Bernard Hopkins. If you saw Rocky 6 however, you saw Tarver.

Chad Lawson defended his WBC Light Heavyweight title successfully. I stopped watching the Tarver fight in about the 5th because Marcus was here and wanted to see the iMPACT main event.

I enjoyed what I saw, the next edition of Showtime's Championship Boxing is on 7/7 which I probably won't see unless it comes on on Showtime West when UFC 73 has concluded.

Kermit Cintron accepts UFC's Challenge

IBF Welterweight champ Kermit Cintron who does have a wrestling background has accepted the challenge Floyd Maywether did not from Dana White.

White challenged Mayweather to fight Sean Sherk after Mayweather made negative comments toward the UFC.

Cintron may have answered the call but I don't know if it will lead to anything because nobody knows who Kermit Cintron is.

Floyd Mayweather talks shit about MMA, Liddell

By Art Shimko
shimko_7@hotmail.com

Jesus H. Christ, raggin' on MMA lately is the In Thing~! as the kids like to say, take Floyd Mayweather for instance from an article on The Sweet Science:

“UFC ain’t shit,” he said. “It ain’t but a fad. Anyone can put a tattoo on their head and get in a street fight.” He singled out UFC poster boy Chuck Liddell for an extra overhand right. “We should put Liddell against a good heavyweight, under Mayweather Promotions, and if Chuck wins, then I’ll give him a million dollars out of my own pocket.” PBF then shoe-shined all MMA fighters. “These are guys who couldn’t make it in boxing,” he said. “So they do (MMA). Boxing is the best sport in the world and it’s here to stay.”

Someone been watching old wrestling tapes for promos?? Another jack-off talking tough, and I'm not denying Mayweather's a tough fighter but c'mon, he sounds like a total hack here. Stick to shit-talking De La Hoya you fuckin' tomato can...
