12/3/06 Sunday Roundup

Lets take a look at the games that were a lot more exciting than ECW.
See who I picked

Detroit 2/10 - 21
at
New England 9/3 - 28
I Picked: New England (Correct)
OCC: I am now a big Lions fan. They need to win so that the Raiders can get the top draft choice again.

San Diego 10/2 - 24
at
Buffalo 5/7 - 21
I Picked: San Diego (Correct)
OCC: San Diego is the big winner on Sunday because Denver and Kansas City lost in the division and Indianapolis lost in the race for home field.

Atlanta 6/6 - 24
at
Washington 4/8 - 14
I Picked: Washington (Incorrect)
OCC: Washington blew a 14 point lead, it figures.

Indianapolis 10/2 - 17
at
Tennessee 5/7 - 20
I Picked: Indianapolis (incorrect)
OCC: I said that this would be a close game and it was and I'm really not surprised that Tennessee won.

Arizona 3/9 - 34
at
St. Louis 5/7 - 20
I Picked: St. Louis (incorrect)
OCC: This may have been Matt Leinart's coming out party.

San Francisco 5/7 - 10
at
New Orleans Saints 8/4 - 34
I Picked: New Orleans (correct)
OCC: San Francisco = lost Opportunity.

New York Jets 7/5 - 38
at
Green Bay 4/8 - 10
I Picked: New York Jets (correct)
OCC: The Jets are back in the playoff hunt.

Kansas City 7/5 - 28
at
Cleveland 4/8 - 31
I Picked: Kansas City (incorrect)
OCC: Cleveland pulled it out in Over-time.

Minnesota 5/7 - 13
at
Chicago 10/2 - 23
I Picked: Chicago (correct)
OCC: Bears clinch playoff spot and division title.

Houston 4/8 - 13
at
Oakland 2/10 - 14
I Picked: Oakland (incorrect)
OCC: 3 missed Janikowski field goals hurt. Another great defensive gem wasted.

Jacksonville 7/5 - 24
at
Miami 5/7 - 10
I Picked: Miami (incorrect)
OCC: The Dolphins had a lot of momentum, then this game started.

Tampa Bay 3/9 - 3
at
Pittsburgh 5/7 - 20
I Picked: Pittsburgh (correct)
OCC: Too Little, Too Late.

Dallas 8/4 - 23
at
New York Giants 6/6 - 20
I Picked: Dallas (correct)
OCC: Dallas is in the drivers seat for a first round bye.

Seattle 8/4 - 23
at
Denver 7/5 - 20
I Picked: Denver (incorrect)
OCC: Denver is not in a good way right now even with the QB change.

NFL 9/25 Monday Night Footbal - final roundup

Quick recap of the game on this: Great Cornholio day.

Atlanta 2/1 - 3
at
New Orleans 3/0 - 23
I picked: New Orleans (correct)

Some suggest probably mostly tongue in cheak that the fix was in tonight.

Well, if it was, the Falcons sure don't mind getting clobbered:

The Saints are 3/0 but I still don't know what to make of them. They've got a brutal schedule coming up with games against Carolina, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Philadelphia in the coming weeks. We'll have a better idea of where this team stands about week 8. Sure, I realize that's true for a lot of teams accept the Raiders who already suck and the Bears who already play sucky teams, and thus we've made a pretty obvious statement.

Overall: 9/5

NFL 9/25 Monday Night Football - halftime roundup

Atlanta 2/0 - 3
at
New Orleans 2/0 - 20
I picked: New Orleans

The Saints got off to a good start in front of an emotional crowd. After the Falcons did nothing on their first drive, the Saints blocked the punt and returned it for a touchdown.

I'm not surprised at all how this game has gone as I picked the Saints to win.

The pregame ceremonies were quite moving and well done.

NFL 9/24 Late Game - finals roundup

I didn't see any of these games, but I'll comment on certain things.

Philadelphia 2/1 - 38
at
San Francisco 1/2 - 24
I picked: Philadelphia (correct)
This game may have cost the 49ers dearly as Vernon Davis and Frank Gore were injured on the same play.

New York Giants 1/2 - 30
at
Seattle 3/0 - 42
I picked: Seattle (correct)
I've got to say that the Seahawks giving up that many points may be a sign of concern, but then again, they scored more so they still win.

St. Louis 2/1 - 16
at
Arizona 1/2 - 14
I picked: Arizona (incorrect)
I don't get either of these teams, I really don't.

Baltimore 3/0 - 15
at
Cleveland 0/3 - 14
I picked: Baltimore (correct)
This game was too close for Ravens comfort I'm sure. This does not boad well for Oakland as Cleveland played Baltimore much better than the Raiders did.

Denver 2/1 - 17
at
New England 2/1 - 7
I picked: New England (incorrect)
I know nothing about this game but the score as I was watching TNA.

I was 8/5 on the afternoon. Certainly a big drop from last week but I did pretty good on TNA and UFC predictions.

NFL 9/24 Early Games - Finals roundup

The early games are all in the books, how did I do?

As a note, I probably will comment on the late games only after the sunday night game is over due to other things.

Tennessee 0/3 - 10
at
Miami 1/2 - 13
I picked: Miami (correct)
Well, I would've figured the Dolphins would win by a larger score.

Jacksonville 2/1 - 14
at
Indianapolis 3/0 - 21
I picked: Indianapolis (correct)
The Colts are no in first place in the AFC South. Later this year the Jaguars will get a rematch in Jacksonville.

Washington 1/2 - 31
at
Houston 0/3 - 15
I picked: Houston (incorrect)
Shows how much I know.

Green Bay 1/2 - 31
at
Detroit 0/3 - 24
I picked: Detroit
A definite high-scoring contest.

New York Jets 2/1 - 28
at
Buffalo 1/2 - 20
I picked: Buffalo (incorrect)
I can't figure either of these 2 teams out.

Carolina 1/2 - 26
at
Tampa Bay 0/3 -- 24
I Picked: Carolina (correct)
Tampa Bay staged a comeback to take a 21-20 lead but the Panthers hang on for a win. Tampa is in a huge hole now in the NFC South.

Cincinnati 3/0 - 28
at
Pittsburgh 1/2 - 20
I picked: Cincinnati (correct)
A big win for the Bengals on the road to jump out ahead of Pittsburgh by 2 games.

Chicago 3/0 - 19
at
Minnesota 2/1 - 16
I picked: Chicago (correct)
A close game in the NFC North but a big win for the Bears as they are 3/0 in the division to start out the year.

Early record: 5/3

Hopefully, I do better in the late games.

NFL 9/24 Early Game - Halftime Roundup

I'm tired of typing I've got typers fatigue I guess, but rest assured I will be providing live coverage of TNA No Surrender tonight.

Now lets look at the scores from the early games today.

Click here to see who I picked

Tennessee - 7
at
Miami - 3
It is tough for me to comment on this game as I've heard very little of what has happened so far. I don't like the score but only because I picked Miami.

Jacksonville - 7
at
Indianapolis -7
I'm not surprised this is a close game as Jacksonville always plays Indianapolis tough. I almost picked Jacksonville to win this game which you'd know if you read my picks.

Washington - 21
at
Houston - 7
I think that this should prove that Houston is a bad team. Washington has offensive troubles and has scored 21 points at halftime.

Green Bay - 17
at
Detroit - 14
We had a 28 point first quarter in this game. These teams only look good when playing each other or so it would appear.

New York Jets - 14
at
Buffalo - 10
Again, doing other things I don't really know what is going on in this game. I'm not surprised its close because the Jets have been in every game they've played so far, all of both of them.

Carolina - 20
at
Tampa Bay - 7
Tampa finally scores a touchdown making the Raiders the last team in the league not to find the endzone. Carolina had 6 yards of total offense at a point where they were up 17-0.

Cincinnati - 14
at
Pittsburgh - 10
(Third Quarter)
This has been a game. Cincinnati was down 7-0 and Pittsburgh was inside the Bengal 10. Roethlisberger tossed a pick in the endzone and the Bengals player tried running it out and was tackled at the 2. The Bengals drove 98 yards down the field and capped off the drive with a Palmer to Henry touchdown pass. A 14 point swing right there from Pittsburgh 14-0 to a tie 7-7 game. The Steelers strike first in the third period with a field goal cutting the lead to 14-10.

Chicago - 3
at
Minnesota - 6
Well, it looks like we're going to get one of these field goal battles at least once a week sometimes 2 in a single weekend and this so far has been the game. This actually surprises me very little as I know Chicago put points on the board last week but it was against Detroit.

So there is the halftime roundup of the early games.

NFL 9/18 Monday Night Football - final roundup

The score:
Pittsburgh 1/1 - 0
at
Jacksonville 2/0 - 9
I picked: Pittsburgh (incorrect)
Well, what can you really say about tonight's game?

I think my assessment of the Jaguars might have been a bit off the mark. Either that or Pittsburgh is headed for a slide. The Jaguars shut out Pittsburgh tonight despite the fact that Reggie Hayward one of their best defenders was lost for the season after their victory last week.
Sure, Jacksonville didn't score any touchdowns but that is less of an issue when you're pitching a shutout on defense.
I think that Ben Roethlisberger played like a man who was sick tonight and that's good because he was sick going into the game. Although he hasn't looked good since the AFC Championship game.
The Steelers game against Cincinnati becomes double important now because if they lose they fall to 1/2 and are 2 games out of first place. Sure, its still early in the season but that's not a good place to be regardless of the time of year.
But that Jacksonville team could be more than just a 1 year wonder.

NFL 9/17 Sunday Night - finals roundup

Washington 0/2 - 10
at
Dallas 1/1 - 27
I Picked: Dallas (correct)
Some news coming out of this game...

Terrell Owens has suffered a broken hand and will miss between 2 to 4 weeks. The Cowboys have a bye next week before taking on Tennessee on Oct. 1. Owens disclosed the injury in a post-game press conference shown on NFL Network.

I think that the Owens injury might hurt if not for the fact that they still have Terry Glenn and that they can beat the Titans without Owens.

The Redskins offense is really anemic which is making me regret my preseason prediction for the Skins.

I'll have a full NFL post on what we've learned this week and where we stand after the Steelers/Jaguars game on Monday.

NFL 9/17 Late Game - Finals roundup

Lets see how I did in the late games.

Early games 7/2

St. Louis 1/1 - 13
at
San Francisco 1/1 - 20
I picked: St. Louis (incorrect)
Its a crazy league, the Rams looked good against Denver winning last week and then lose to San Francisco.

Kansas City 0/2 - 6
at
Denver 1/1 - 9
(Overtime)
I picked: Denver (correct)
A pretty good game towards the end even if it was a fieldgoal battle. We've had 2 of these in 2 weeks.

Arizona 1/1 - 10
at
Seattle 2/0 - 21
I picked: Seattle (correct)
I think this should show everyone that the Seahawks are still the class of the NFC West. Of course, it is tough for anyone to win in Seattle, we'll see what happens in Arizona later in the year.

New England 2/0 - 24
at
New York Jets 1/1 - 17
I picked: New England (correct)
The Jets did come back to make this one a game but New England still had enough to put this one away.

Tennessee 0/2 - 7
at
San Diego 2/0 - 40
I picked: San Diego (correct)
Weak schedule or not, the Chargers are a very good team.

4/1 in the late games 11/3 on the afternoon, nice way to rebound.
