MMA News and Notes for Early Monday

I plan to post as much as I can this week because this weekend, it is vacation time! A vacation from the blog anyway.

After his loss to Gabriel Gonzaga Mirko Cro Cop went home He says he has no plans to retire.

More behind the cut...

His opponent says He took the opportunity and that's putting it mildly.

Here is results from Cage Rage 21. In other news, fuck the DRM.

Some UK Fighgers sign for fights

After UFC 70, it is safe to call the trip to the UK a success for the UFC

That success could lead to a UK version of The Ultimate Fighter

Dana White says that the UFC is still planning to head to Canada

A doctor has analyzed Mirko's fall and thinks he could be out 3 to 6 months.

Could a rematch of Royce Gracie and Kazushi Sakuraba happen in June?

Matt Serra will go from Ultimate Fighter competitor to Ultimate Fighter Coach

James Irvin will be the opponent for Thiago Alves at UFC 71.

I gave you a plethera of UFC 70 predictions columns and now will do the same for reviews.

and Here

My own take on the main event, can be read Here
As far as the rest of the show, the entirity was thumbs in the middle. Arlovski's fight was terrible and Kongo's wasn't any better. Bisping is a superstar and I'm glad we didn't have to see Machida after all.

No Limits MMA had an event on Saturday which I couldn't watch because of DRM but results are here

Steve Sievert looks at Andrei Arlovski and whether he's lost his edge or bite in this case.

I'm out for now.

Friday afternoon MMA News and Notes

First, Wandering Euan will have a report on UFC 70 sometime tomorrow, of course given that he says he will...you might not want to hold your breath on it. However, report from Euan or not, I am going to post spoilers because like it or not, it is news. If you don't want the event to be spoiled, nobody will stand over you with a gun to your head making you read them, and if someone does do that well...nice knowing you.

I will also have some kind of thoughts on the show as it airs on SpikeTV. If something should happen to Euan it could be delayed round-by-round coverage, but if not it will just be short form thoughts.

Also, there is a chance of some live play-by-play of tomorrow's Cage Rage event which you can see on ProElite.com but I'm not going to promise it.

As another reminder, you can predict the outcomes of the UFC 70 bouts, all 10 of them, here all you need is to register for the board.

Anyway, on to the rest of the news.

Here's a predictions column no where near as cool as our CARE podcast.

here we have a look at the 6/22 Strikeforce/Elite XC show.

Here is the official announcement of UFC 72 in Northern Ireland.

A look at the ratings trends for episode 2 of Ultimate Fighter are right here

I mentioned Cage Rage earlier, and I can't remember if I've linked to this or not but here is a preview for tomorrow's event. Note that Bob Sapp is out and Tank Abbott is in. You can get more on that story by clicking here

Fabricio Werdum fears not the Octagon

Joe Lauzon blogs the most recent TUF episode Look, Gabe Ruediger's colonic actually happened, lets just accept it and move on.

Another cast member weighs in only this man is a coach. Jens Pulver's reaction to episode 3

Now you can find out why they call Michael Bisping the Count.

Underdogs are ready to roar at UFC 70 I call it the last yelp of death. Realistically, how many dogs roar?

The Orange County Register Examines the UFC 70 conference call

here's a report from yesterday's UFC 70 press conference.

Another UFC picks column not as good as our podcast now, I know what you're thinking and yes I am truly the most awesome man to ever live. How kind of you. But, you are also wondering why if these are inferior works to our own do I bother providing a link? It is one thing for me to claim superiority, it is another to prove it. Plus, there's no shame in being inferior to us, the list of people that fits that description is longer than you'd think. So its not that these are bad columns, they're just misfortunate enough to have been written at a time where we exist. Understand now?

A look at the Brazilian scene and A look at Canada titled MM-Eh! Ok, thumbs up for that title.

A preview of UFC 70's Undercard it lacks the caring touch.

Andrei Arlovski wants to be champion again and I want him to thank his sponsor

The last item I think I'll leave you with because I'm tired is the UFC 70 preview from Fox Sports. I don't often link to FSN but Dave Doyle does do good work.

Well, that should give you enough reading material to keep you busy during the time leading up to the show.

MMA News and Notes for Tuesday

Lets take a look around the MMA Universe.

Today's Question of the Day on the Messageboard looks at all of the drug test failures in MMA. You can read and respond here

All the rest of the good stuff requires you to click continue reading....

If you like MMA but are sick of the UFC machine, perhaps you would be interested in this doubleheader of events to be streamed on ProElite.com this weekend?

MMAWeekly.com has a new column titled Spotlight on Canada

This Interview with Enoch Wilson makes me want to see his next fight. Just read it, and you'll understand.

UFC.com looks at David "Please don't call me Gangrel, that's a different guy" Heath

The Telegraph out of the UK looks at native son Michael Bisping

While UFC.com looks at his tomato can...er...opponent Elvis Sinosic

NBC Sports takes a look at Andrei Arlovsky as he prepares for UFC 70.

Steve Bunce of the Sunday Herald Explains MMA to the stupid

Remember Eddie Sanchez, Mirko Cro Cop's first UFC victim? Well, he'll be fighting at UFC 72 'Victory' against Colin "Big C" Robinson who will probably be very popular in his home country.

Tickets for the event go on sale tomorrow

You can also watch UFC 72'Victory' on SpikeTV. Don't believe me? see for yourself

UFC 70 'Nations Collide's Weigh-ins are open to the public I can confirm I will not be there.

An Olympic Legend Takes on MMA and if you think its Kurt Angle, just punch yourself right in the balls or if you're female, the face for thinking such foolishness. This will save time on me having to track all of you down to do it myself.

This IFL Column contains the kind of stuff I want to see on Battleground, especially the bit about Renzo Gracie's strategy.

Speaking of Battleground, as you may have noticed I didn't recap it for the second week in a row. Last week it was because our Podcast ran long. This week, I was listening to the Atlanta Braves God bless Game Day Audio! and thus did not feel like it. I promise to be back next week, unless I'm not. Actually, since I just found out I can watch a replay on Saturday I guarantee a recap next week. None this saturday as I'll be watching UFC 70 but either monday or Saturday of next week.

Another IFL IFL Column, was probably mor relevant before yesterday but then again, I'm not sure I want the advice of anyone connected with the IFL when it comes to money matters.

Sherdog.com writes about Frenchman Jess "The Joker" Liaudin who No Joke, is ready for Germany's Dennis Siver this Saturday.

Gracie Fighting Championship's May 19 card is complete and it includes names fimiliar to UFC fans such as: Jeff Monson, Wess Sims and Brandon Lee Hinkle.

The next series of Bodog Fight (which I still can't watch) is Costa Rica Combat alliteration is cool. Hey, I just noticed I can apparently watch this online. Alrighty then.

Well, I've hit the bottom of the barrel when it comes to news for today so far.

Here is a breakdown of IFL Battleground's ratings so far.

The Calgary Sun has a story talking up UFC coming to Canada in 2007.

Has the UFC finally found an opponent for Keith Jardine at UFC 71?

UFCJunkie.com has up an interview with Andrei Arlovsky

Kind of sparse, but that's no surprise for a Saturday.
