Also, Russo would not be smarter than a fifth grader. Hey, its still January, got to work out the last of these before midnight.

WSX debut rating

According to PwInsider.com last night's airing of WSX did a 1.0 rating. A nice debut considering the show actually aired a few days previous. Also, it was going up against the second half of ECW which Vince McMahon was planning to load up. If you want to know how well he accomplished that feet, perhaps its time you read This

It is also a better rating than TNA did for its debut episode of iMPACT, and pretty close to what TNA does now. It will be interesting to see the drop if any.

This Day in Sheiky History: 01/31

Lets see what Sheiky did on this day in history?

For this date, we actually gleaned some of our information from the forth coming Sheiky autobiography A tale of 2 ponk little gay, jabroney sonnavabitch, suplex heem put heem in tha camel clutch, break his back and then fuck his ass around the world in 80 days Cities. Expect the title to be shortened before press.




The day was January 31, 1993 and here is the man himself to give you the backgroun.

Yes, that's true, that's true, I'm glad I mention that to myself. Sheiky vas in need of massage and so Sheiky decide to head to bar. Sheiky gonna have some beer, maybe some medisong, and Hey, I'm not Michael Jacksong. So, I go to tha club, I don't remember its name. Anyway, Sheiky walk in to club and look around. I doenna see any men in the club. I think yes, no competition you know what I'm saying Mr. Maloney? I mean I'm most handsomest man in the vorld but even Sheiky like easy night.

I go to pretty woman, good looking woman and ask if she want to share my beer. I buy her a beer and it cost me $2. That's why Nikolai navaire go to the bar with me, he's a jew faggot and he no spend $2 on pretty woman. So, we have beer and I say you vanna have the sex with me. She say, no I doenna wanna have sex with you. I said, why not I share with you my beer. I say I'm most handsomest man in the bar I could pick any of these woman but I pick you, and I wanna have sex.

You know sometimes, I'm like Mohommad Ali and I get punched in the head and I don't remember too well. You know but I got home and had me the sex and it was great feeling I had all-time all that evening.

We're not Paul Harvey but we do have "The rest of the Story." It seems that Sheiky was in a lesbian club that night and the woman he hit on may or may not have been (and for legal purposes definitely was not) Chastity Bono.

As for the sex, well we can't say for sure but there is recorded evidence of a smiling camel from the night in question.

And you thought that the scariest 31st was Halloween. Now that you know about this day in Sheiky history, perhaps January 31 is the scariest day of the year?

All I can say is new concept match = afraid. Actually, if the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is correct, this would be an x-division type concept where the 2 combatants would wrestle for 10 minutes and at the end judges would pick the winner based on who looked better, and it would I guess be legit. This is a trainwreck that I would have to see at least once and be more than happy to pay $30 to see occur. The flaw with this idea, and as this is TNA you knew there'd be one is that it usually takes 2 men to look impressive, so how would this even really work?

Unless TNA has come up with something even wackier in the past few weeks to top this.

This Day in Sheiky History: 01/30

What happened to Sheik on this day in years past?



On this date in Sheiky History in 1146, Sheiky threw his first suplex.

He was in a grappling contest with the famous Higen Von Hulkin-hogen when he executed his first suplex to the ooo and ahhh of the crowd. After the move was successfully performed, Sheiky stood around confused for a minute before loading up his pointy boot and kicking Hulkin-Hogen in the chest for the win. After the match Sheiky offered this quote.

"It was good feeling for me to suplex blonde jabroney. But Sheiky need to follow up Sheiky will find way, seems to me that blonde guitar playing faggot vas too proud. In Old Country we put heem in Camel Clutch, break his back and he be humbill. That's it! Raspact the Sheiky, I'm gonna suplex heem then I put heem in the camel clutch, break his back...hmmm, still need something...sheiky think...ah ha, Mr. Intelligent wrestling fan...break his back and then ... ... ... fuck his ass! make heem humbill~!"

As for my own feelings, I'm not sure about the Napp hire. I believe that as Lane Kiffin will be the play caller that a return to the west coast offense is not in the offing and that may not be a bad thing we'll wait and see. I'm not so sold on the joint Stadium idea but do think it likely that such a venture would ensure a Bay-Area Super Bowl down the line.

Television News Roundup for 01/30

I'm starting this one even before the beginning of Creativity month, but its the Television News Roundup. Basically, I'll give my thoughts on a couple of stories every day that I find to be of some importance and give brief bits of commentary on others. Not too hard to follow now is it?


Our first article is At Last Television Ratings go to College
New York Times - Registration probably required.
The piece examines the Nielson ratings finally counting college campuses. Not surprisingly professional wrestling and the impact that this new system could have on it was not counted, but I'd have to think that TNA and WWE would see gains especially the latter. Think about this, WWE Raw is usually the highest rated show on cable television and this is before college campuses were factored in to the equasion. As someone who supposedly went to college, I can tell you its a popular show there. I'm actually more interested in what this does for TNA and UFC more than anything else.
The article suggests that shows like the Simpsons, Family Guy, America's Next Top Model, South Park and Adult Swim could see big gains as well and I don't doubt it.

Thus is the claim of Microsoft chairman Bill Gates.
I don't personally doubt that the Internet will change the way content is delivered and when and how we can access it and personally it will probably change it for the better. However, the trouble is at least for me that the content will still for the most part be horrible and so what we're really doing is making it easier for people to watch horrible shows whenever they wish. I'm not sure that this is such a good revolution afterall.

A Major OCC announcement

This announcement affects the future of this website at least in the short term.



I feel lately that the Old Country Corner has sort of fallen in to a rut. I feel as though we've gotten content and are in a comfort zone. I think that it is time to break out of that comfort zone and explore some new territory.

What am I talking about as far as a comfort zone? I think that this blog has fallen in to a pattern of repetition. All of my TNA recaps are an example of this. Sure, the jokes may be different every week and they may even be funny periodically but the jokes are all based around the central themes. Vince Russo is retarded, and TNA is random and wacky and a cheap copy of WWE.

Whenever, I post news about ECW the joke may be different but it always echos the same theme which is that ECW is a wasteland. Now, all of those things are true, but they have become our crutch. They're old and reliable and they're easy. The Sheiky humor is another example of a crutch. Stuck for something to say, then just toss in a great feeling I had all-time all my life and there you have it. Again, its not that its not funny its just that no new ground is being broken.

I feel like I am creative enough and that I have creative enough people posting here that this site can be more than it is. Lets face it you can go to a billion wrestling boards and find people talking about Russo's mental faculties, TNA and ECW's constant battle to see which show can be worse, and even Iron Sheik lines in every post. So in that sense we're just another place that does it, ok maybe to some we're funnier about it than everyone else but if someone came upon this site they might not realize tht before they've decided its just another Anti-ECW-TNA-Russo site like all the others. When you add in the fact that we've got multiple contributors making the same points on the same premise it just reads like a group of posts with 1 thought between them.

I speak only for myself when I say this but I feel my writing has gotten lazy. Yeah, maybe I make different jokes in every iMPACT recap but really the central points never change. Part of that is the fact that TNA never changes, but why should I criticize TNA for never thinking outside the box when I hit the same nail with the same hammer every week myself?

So, I want to break this site out of its rut for awhile. I want to get the creative juices flowing a bit and see if we can't come up with some new ideas for how we write and what we write about.

I wouldn't want someone to come along and look at this site and go, they made the same joke in January-December-November-October-so on. So it is time for some new ideas to spring forth.

I know Euan is the Minister of Holidays Fuuuuuu~! but as this is not really a holiday so to speak it falls in my territory.

I proclaim that February is to be creativity month here at the OCC.

I'll explain what that is a little better here in a bit.
Initially, I was thinking that it needed to be Positivity month at the OCC but then I realized that sometimes shows are bad and there's nothing positive to say about them. However, I feel as though we've just gotten to the point where its "This show was bad because Vince Russo is retarded". Again, while that's true its not exactly a big revelation. I do intend though to point out certain things that I do find positive because believe it or not, even in the horrible state that iMPACT is in there are a few bright spots for me, that often get overshadowed by my hatred for all things random and wacky that happen on that show. As I said, its easy to just stick with what works and never change just ask Vince McMahon.

So, what is Creativity month? It is a chance to look for new concepts and to freshen up old ones with new material. I urge all OCC contributors to think outside the box. If you've got an idea for something you'd like to write about or try that we haven't done here, this is the month to go for it. If you look at your writing and see a reliance on a certain bits or jokes over and over again, think of ways to change up the material. There is some creative talent here, and so now is the time to flush things out. Not everything will be a winner, the law of averages proves that to be true, but hopefully we explore some new ground to freshen things up a bit.

Now, here's where it gets tough...I've come up with a ban list of points that I think get made too much and thus are off limits from 02/01 to 03/01.


Vince Russo's mental Faculties and his booking in general. ECW's wasted existance, TNA's random and wacky existance. The fact that these are on the banned list doesn't mean they stop being true or that they won't continue being true in February. They are just points that we've made over and over and over again. My hope is that when they come off of the banned list that we will have added some new material to our portfolio and so when it comes time to go to a well for material we're not going to the same well over and over again.

I'm not criticizing the work of anyone other than myself, looking at the banned list, I'm the chief offender on every single one of those things that will be taboo for the next month. I laugh a lot at a lot of what I read here and even amazingly some of the things that I write. I just think that its time to think outside of what we're used to doing.


One more thing, for the month of February I want all Sheiky related commedy to be restricted to This Day in Sheiky History. Sheiky is like our finishing move, the people pop for it, the people want to see it but if we hit it 6 times in 1 match it won't mean as much. The other stuff on the banned list are like our secondary spots, they can be a nice part of our work but changing them up periodically isn't a bad thing.

I want to be the leader of the pack, not just another dog. So, if you write for this blog and have an idea no matter how far fetched you might think it is, go for it. We're looking for unique it might start out rocky but it can be refined later...which is not true if you never show it the light of day. Also if you read this and have something you'd like to see, feel free to either suggest it or offer to write it yourself.

I just now thought of a concept that I don't see being done that much that would be right up Art's alley I think, so perhaps I'll suggest it to him.

I've also got a couple of things I'm seriously considering.

I'm eager to see what kind of new jokes/points/ideas we all come up with by the end of February and I think when some of the old stuff makes its return it will actually be a little fresher and een possibly missed in its absense. So, my last comment to everyone would be to just have fun with it.

WWE RAW 1/29/07 Live Coverage

I will be gracing you tonight with live coverage of RAW. Also, I would like to humble the people that work at my cable company for not allowing me to get Royal Rumble. I'll see it soon enough. With that out of the way, it's time for RAW.


We open up the show with HBK. He starts out by talking about the Royal Rumble then says he's gonna find a way to be the WWE Champion at Wrestlemania. The Champ has now come down to the ring and says he would love to face HBK at WM and now Edge has come out. He says that he should face Cena and now Orton has come out and doesn't look too happy. Orton makes a valid point about not having any title shots. Cena has challenged Rated RKO to come down to the ring but Vince appears on the Titantron. He makes Rated RKO vs. Cena/HBK for the World Tag Team titles.

Commercial break.

Back from commercial with Cryme Tyme backstage. They give shout outs then head to the ring to face The World's Greatest Tag Team. Shad and Haas exchange some moves then Shelton sneaks in and kicks Shad's leg. Shelton now in focusing on the leg. Half-crab on Shad but he powers out and tags JTG who hits some good dropkicks. World's Greatest Tag Team steal one from Cryme Tyme.

Backstage with Vince, Melina and Coach. Coach lets him know all the preperations are ready for the Fan Appreciation thing. Vince is plugging this so much that this has gotta be something the fans will hate.

Back from commercial with this week in wrestling history. This week is the very first Royal Rumble that Duggan won.

Melina (YOWZA!) comes out to the ring and makes her match against Maria a #1 Contender's match. Maria just did a Bronco Buster! That was unexpected. Now onto Mickie and Super Crazy. Super Crazy says some things then Melina shows up and we get a catfight! I hardly recognized Mickie.

Now onto Edge, Cade and Murdoch. Edge says nobody can take away the Tag Titles when they're on the same page.

Back from commercial with Val Venis going against Umaga. See ya later Val. This match needs no play by play since we know that Val is gonna get squashed. Vince and Coach are now coming to the ring with a couple security guards who are bringing something down to the ring.

Back from commercial with Vince McMahon saying wearing cowboy hats are ridiculous and stupid. He throws the hat on the mat and stomps on it. Vince thanks the fans for making him a millionaire and asks for a volunteer to come into the ring. He picks a hot girl who's wearing a very short jean skirt. It's a huge poster of Vince McMahon on the cover of Muscle and Fitness. Knew it was something stupid. Donald trump appears on the Titan Tron. He runs down Vince and says they want value as real money comes down from the ceiling. Vince says it's fake until he gets a hold of one. "It's raining cash."

Back from commercial with Coach and Vince in the parking lot. Coach hands him some money then Vince leaves.

Carlito with the ever so hot Torrie Wilson and Super Crazy are taking on Chris Masters and...Kenny? They couldn't find anybody better to team with Masters? Masters and Crazy start out with Super Crazy pulling off some good moves for a nearfall. Kenny now in the ring and gest dropkick in the head then tags Carlito who gets a nearfall. Suicide Dive and Plancha onto Masters and Kenny on the outside. Kenny and Masters regain control in the ring with Masters hitting a backbreaker. Kenny comes in and gets a nearfall. Carlito breaks up a pin. Kenny gets a nearfall. Hot tag to Carlito who is on a roll. Nice dropkick and a breakup by Kenny. Backcracker by Carlito gets the win.

Backstage with Grisham and Orton. Orton dodges all the questions.

Back from commercial with Jeff Hardy defening the IC Title against The Great Khali. Khali owning this match so far. Jeff tries for a high risk move but Khali walks out of the way. Jeff gets a couple moves in but Khali chops him out of the ring which gets him the win via countout.

Back from commercial with the Main Event. HBK and Edge start with HBK lighting Edge up with chops. Tag to Cena who gets a nearfall. Excellent DDT and another nearfall. Tag to Orton who hits some good European Uppercuts. Great fisherman Suplex by Cena gets 2. Orton takes back control and distracts the ref while Edge chokes Cena. Rollup by Cena gets 2. Edge is walking out on Orton as we go to commercial.

Back from commercial with Edge still in the match and getting hammered by Cena. Orton gets a cheap shot and rolls out of the ring. Tag to Orton who is stomping away at Cena. Edge back in with a standing dropkick for 2. Orton back in with a nearfall and now a submission. Hot tag to HBK who is cleaning house. Orton snekas in and dropkicks HBK. Cena back in and FUs Orton to get the Tag Team Titles. The Undertaker has arrived! Undertaker has expressed his decision to face Cena and WM 23 as the show ends.

On this date Sheiky found some success in a very important event. It was on this date in 1343 that Sheiky would win a contest about which little is known.

Sheiky won his first Ever Royill Humbill Rumbill.
We don't know much about the event. We know that the entry fee was $2, there's that number again and that Sheiky entered the Humbill Rumbill from the 4th spot out of 69.

The rest of how the event works may have to be left up to your imagination. Apparently, the event was outlawed in 1478 for "rampant human rights violations", whatever that means.

You can probably guess though how 1 was eliminated from the Royill Humbill Rumbill.

I've got a few thoughts...


*It seems that the MNM/Hardy Boys feud may continue afterall. This could be another feud wherein MNM loses every match.

*Looking at the result to the Bobby Lashley Vs. Test encounter, it is clear someone in WWE watched the Finish to Rhino Vs. AJ Styles from Final Resolution and thought it was worth stealing. I think said person should be fired, but at least it happened in the match on the show that the fewest number of people cared about. Also, clean pin on Tuesday wacky finish on the PPV again good thing it was the ECW match.

*Mark it down, Undertaker gets way more cheers at Wrestlemania than does Batista.

*This still leaves us a need for an opponent for John Cena. I think I'll want to check out Last Man Standing.

*Cole, Lawler and JBL did commentary for the Rumble. Shows you the pecking order of ECW and I guess Jim Ross in the eyes of someone.

*Most important thing to me about the Rumble, the fact that the man that drew #30 was the winner. This has never happened before.

I won't seak to the quality of the show not having watched it but I think I'll hit a tit borrent site to obtain a copy.

Care/Other Vuz, Vuz, Vuz Jabronis Predictions Recap: WWE Royal Rumble 2007

It is time to look at the results of 2007’s Royal Rumble and assess where everyone stands.


Match 1: The Hardy Boys Def. MNM

As you can see it was a 5-2 split on this one. Clearly 5 of us ended up being fools with the result. Put wins in the column for Wade and Ric.

We had quite the split here. The Rumble came down to Shawn Michaels and Undertaker, sorry Ric. So Scott and Wade against myself, Marcus, Euan and Art. Well, once again the minority was victorious with the Undertaker victory.

So here is how it broke down. With only a 5 match show and so many picks being unanimous everyone was going to be bunched together.

Tying for last at 3-2 were: Casey, Art, Euan and Marcus
Tying for Second at 4-1 were: Scott and Ric
Winning the Royal Rumble Event: Wade with a perfect 5-0 record.

As you can see, Wade would seem to have the hot hand having the best percentage of the bunch as of now. Ric has finished in either first or second place in all 4 predictions contests. Had Wade participated in New Year’s Revolution the rest of the field might be in big trouble. Myself, Art and Euan are all floundering below .500 for the year which means if you follow our picks expect bad things to happen.
Next up we have 3 events in 2 weeks. We have UFC 67 on February 3, and we have EliteXC and TNA Against All Odds on the 10th and 11th respectively. My WWE Royal Rumble picks

My picks were ready to go but I got busy with work (among other things) so I will post them here for all to read.



Jabroni Wade:

* Thirty-man 'Royal Rumble' match - Shelton Benjamin, Chris Benoit, Carlito, Tommy Dreamer, Kenny Dykstra, Edge, Finlay, Ric Flair, The Great Khali, Chavo
Guerrero, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Gregory Helms, Hardcore Holly, Kane, King Booker, Chris Masters, Shawn Michaels, The Miz, Johnny Nitro, Randy Orton,

This sounds like it'll be an interesting Rumble. It will also be my first time trying to do live results for one. Shawn Michaels says he's going to win but I'm going with Undertaker. I'm guessing they're going to wait until they have a lot of guys in the ring then bring in Khali. He'll eliminate a lot of guys then get eliminated himself soon after.

* WWE title/'Last-Man-Standing' - Cena vs. Umaga

I see they're doing a job of hyping this match. I was working Monday night so I read the article on WWE.com about Cena's "injury" and it was a nice way to continue the angle. The match will probably consist of Umaga beating the crap out of Cena the majority ofthe time with Cena mounting a comeback and FUing him through a table or something else.

* World title - Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy

This match is elementary. The only reason (I think) they have Kennedy facing Batista now is so they can hold off having him face Undertaker until Wrestlemania.

* ECW title - Bobby Lashley vs. Test

Who gives a crap about the ECW Title anymore? This was once a great belt but it's been destroyed ever since WWE brought it back. The only original ECW wrestler to hold the title has been RVD and he lost it because of problems outside the ring. Having Test as ECW World Champion would be a big mistake so I hope Lashley squashes him.

* The Hardys vs. MNM

Looks like I was right when I said the one Night Only" thing for MNM was more WWE BS. There is an extreme (pun intended if you get it) shortage of tag teams so why not have them go at it again? I see The Hardys teaming up more in the future with Jeff pinning Nitro.

-- After being hospitalized Thursday in Galveston for a low grade fever and flu-like symptoms, 81-year-old blues legend B.B. King was discharged Saturday and said to be feeling better. King will be rescheduling dates he missed early this week in June and plans on performing a show in Fort Worth on Tuesday.

-- Tom Waits and GM Motors German division settled a lawsuit filed by the singer after the auto company and the McCann Erickson agency released commercials featuring a singer who eerily sounded just like Waits. The money Waits received in the suit will be donated to charity, and also this isn't the first time Waits has chased after companies producing ads using singers mimicking his vocal style. In 1992 Waits sued Frito-Lay for a Dortios commercial featuring a vocalist also mimicking a singing voice like his winning $2.5 million and also has sued Audi and Italian carmaker Lancia for similar reasons.

-- In an interview on BBC Radio 4's "Front Row" Brian Eno said that he has been drafted to produce Coldplay's upcoming fourth album.

-- From the Smashing Pumpkins' Myspace blog: The Smashing Pumpkins have made their first official announcement of an appearance in 2007. The band will headline both Rock am Ring (6/2/07) and Rock im Park (6/3/07) Festivals in Germany. Tickets are available beginning on Saturday, January 27, 2007. -- Deicide drummer Steve Asheim was detained earlier this week in Innsbruck, Austria where the band is on tour after attempting to deposit merch money at a local bank. The bank staff was suspicious when some of the money was colored in a red dye, the police were contacted and Asheim was questioned for hours before police released him with no charge.

This Day in Sheiky History: 01/28

It is time once again for This Day in Sheiky History. On this date in Sheiky's history, he won his first Olympic Gold Medal.



The year was 1848. The event was the 100 yard dash.

Sheiky lined up at the starting line and as the gun was fired he took off down the track and blew all of his competition away winning in a then Olympic record time.

Sheiky would tell you that he humbilled his opponents on the track that day and that "they play Oldest Country in the Vold National Anthem."

The real story is a little bit more sorted. For those that know you're Olympic history, you know that the Modern Olympics did not start until 1896 in Athens Greece. This would be 48 years after Sheiky supposedly won his Gold medal in the backyard of the man who lived next door. You would also note that track and field are summer events and January is a winter month. This casts a pretty large doubt on the legitimacy of these Olympic games.

Well, at least he won going away even if the event wasn't really the Olympics.

Unfortunately, there is a reason for that as well.

It seems as though nobody else showed up for the race as all other people in the world boycotted. Sheiky would say that: "They var afraid of reille Olympic Legend, and they know I'm 2 time double U Double U E champiung. I navaire raspact them again but Sheiky still got Olympic Gold Medal. I even cook BBQ on George Forman gimmick and they no pay the $2 to get in just like that cheap skinny bastard, the Nikolai."

Now you know how the Sheik won his first Olympic Gold Medal, it wouldn't be his last and it happened on this date in Sheiky History 1848.

This Day in Sheiky History: 01/27

We don't have to go too far back in Sheiky history for an important event.

First a little background...



Not everyone knows this but Sheiky is an avid player of video games. This has been the case since he first played WWF Attitude on the Sega Dreamcast. Someone showed him how to create wrestlers on that game and his life was filled with great joy when he would constantly pit his created Sheiky against his created Brian Blair. Needless to say, things always ended in the same way for Mr. Blair and it was never particularly good for him.

Anyway, being the Real Legend and if you don't believe him, just ask, Sheiky was one of the first to hop online, and play against others over the internet.

The game was Sega's NFL 2K2 and the date was Jan. 27, 2003.

Sheiky liked to toy with his opponents most of the time before he would break their back in the 4th quarter. Sheiky was in his own words "purposely losing" late and was down by 3 points with 2 minutes left in the game. Sheiky marched the length of the field and with 30 seconds left he managed to get inside his opponents 10 yardline.

Sheiky selected his play, snapped the ball and right as it seemed he would run the ball in for the winning score his opponent purposely disconnected the game and the afternoon was over. Sheiky was disappointed, and said this about the man who dropped off before the killing blow could be scored.

"Gamer, I want to let you know, that you break my heart. You insult all my video game playing brothers. I navaire raspact you again Gamer and you vas lucky ponk, that I not right in your living room. If I ever see you in the Canada or New Jersey, cameraman zoom it, I am going to suplex you, then I put you in the camel clutch, then I fuck your ass and make you humbil."

So it was on this date that someone named Gamer, broke Sheiky's heart.
